What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Art School Rejects

Ever wonder what happened to all the people who submitted their drawings of Tippy the Turtle and were rejected by the famous artist school?

"Eye. Hat. Turtleneck(s). Nailed it!"

'Cuz I think a lot of them became cake decorators.

Think about it:

How else can you explain someone promising this...

... and then delivering this?

"Square. Dots. Tag. Nailed it!"

Or how about this Mad Hatter's treat?

"Just the two top tiers, you say? In pink, purple, and green? Cool."

***

"You mad?"

"So this one wants a cake with a big bow and a bald baby? Noooo problem."

[THUNK]

 "That'll be $49.95."

Of course, sometimes bad art can have consequences. After all, there's a fine line between cute as a button:

... and lifelong therapy.

"Can't sleep; button-eyes will eat me."

Thanks to Adriane D., Cara N., Joana, Anony M., and Tippy for the artful education.

It's LaLa Loopsy?
I think it's Oo-La-Oopsy.
Let's eat our mistakes.

@LDM "On that last cake, is that a pink lasagna noodle for the hair?"
------------------------------
Well, personally I couldn't possibly say... But if you happen to come across any pink lasagna noodles out there, let me know, would you? I think that sounds divinely pinkalicious! =^u.u^=

The mad hatter cake was supposed to be done in Fondant (and I ordered it in Fondant) and the baker decided to use buttercream instead (I don't know why.) But it was even worse cutting into it because it was more frosting than cake. The bottom tier was 8 layers molded together. It was almost not edible because of the lack of cake. But the party was still fun.

Thanks for sharing it Jen! This made my daughter's day!

I think these customers get what they deserve. You should not be asking someone to copy another artist's work. And the bakers should know better. If you are getting paid it should be your own creation.

Coraline is amazing, a complete work of art. I cannot deny it is extremely creepy and sensitive viewers may want to beware, but before deciding not to see it for that reason please think long and hard about what you are missing out on!

That mad hatter cake wreck wasn't so horrible - but, of,course, compared to the original it did look kind of bad. Lovin' the cut in half teacup there! C;
