What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Happy No Pants Day!

[Note: John says I have to put a little warning on today's post, so: warning.]

[running in]

Guys! It's No Pants Day*! Quick! TAKE OFF YOUR PANTS!!

(*Or as we professional bloggers call it, "Friday.")

[ripping off velour track suit pants]

Ahhhh.

Now, I'm just going to plop down on the couch...

[PLOP!]

...and then I'm going to remember that our couch is leather. COLDCOLDCOLDCOLDCOLD!

While I wait for the feeling to return to my lower half, let's take a look at some cakes that are also missing pants:

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess Susie likes cheetahs, Twilight, and black string licorice.

Remember, it's rude to stare.

Unless the cake starts it.

Erm...

That awkward moment when you can't tell if your birthday cake is supposed to be a turn-on or an insult.

Oh, I just remembered: our friends across the pond call underwear "pants." Oops! Haha! Well, don't you worry, my friends: I've got you uncovered:

Just tell your kids it's a flower... growing out of a boulder... getting a shot in the a$$.

Thanks to Lisa M., Brandi H., Rinat, and Sarah F. for dancing with the devil in the full moon light. Now, who wants to pry me off this couch? Anyone? Anyone? Guys?

Now, see. That cake isn't staring! It's obviously for someone who loves Aliens and Planet of the Apes and can't make up their minds which is best. That's why the staring monkey is trying to pop out of the limbless chest Alien style. :)

I came to see if anyone besides me had seen the monkey staring out of cake #2, and while I was typing this comment, my 15yo son walks up and says, "That is a weird monkey, and why is it wearing British underpants?" So I guess I'm NOT the only person seeing a monkey in the cake. LOL!

Cake #1 is a Chippendale dancer who recently had open-heart surgery, and it's not healing well.

Cake #2 is a man in the process of having sex change to become a woman, but the process isn't finished yet.

Cake #3 is a contortionist who has managed to fold his/her body up so small that only the "cheeks" and a small portion of spine are still visible.

Cake #4 is...actually, I can't explain that one, and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to eat cream puffs again. :(

Cake #2- chimpanzee.

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLeah

@Craig
Nice catch!

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterGossamer

Am I the only one that sees C3PO in cake #2?

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAnna

What a lovely flower. Remember, one good movie begins with a man muttering "Rosebud," and many very naughty ones should end that way.

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterkhereva

Haha, the brit one looks like Homer Simpson! : D

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterToni C

In Brazil it is tradition to put frilly panties on one's Sunday ham, just as we often put frilly little frou frous on our lambchops.

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAnonynon

@britjap: You are not alone in seeing the monkey. That's one f-ed up cake.

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterStevenHB

I think the cake doing a disservice to the English looks like Jar Jar Binks!!

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterEvelyn

My hubby and I are finishing up with IVF...and that last one looks like what we had to do twice a week for 4 weeks. Being infertile may suck, but that cake would cause anyone to have second thoughts on the whole procedure. Thanks for the laughs.

In picture #2, I see an ape. With a Union Jack bow tie. I obviously need my eyes checked.

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBecky

The way my day is going, I'd probably get served that "puckered starfish" in #4 at the party.

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterwildmaven

"Unless the cake starts it."

bwahahahahahahahahaha

stern co-worker: Barbara Anne, why did you eat ______'s birthday cake?
me, unrepentantly: The cake started it.

wowza

p.s. I've never danced with the devil in the pale moonlight (or a full moon, either). do you suppose it's safe to "moon" a werewolf???

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara Anne

@Diane-

Thanks for clearing up the yen vs yuan issue. I was confused by that myself because I was seeing a yen symbol with what looked more like Chinese writing (Japanese tends to be written in a mixture of Chinese characters and two other phonetic systems.) Is that a flower stuck up someone's bottom, or is that what someone thinks an anus looks like? I don't think I want to know.

May 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

Oh Jen lol! Little warning. I love your smartassery!

May 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDesi

#2 looks like a surprised bear wearing a Union Jack t-shirt

May 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterCarrie D

Lol now I see Homer's face on that cake. Oh sheesh. So very glad to have not ordered any cake at all lol. Wow. I wonder what the recipients did upon receiving such wonders?

May 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

No.2 is obviously created by a highly talented baker as in the manner of all great masterpieces, the nipples follow you around the room...

May 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterCaroline B

Are we sure that the Brazilian cake isn't just a turkey with pants on?
I guess it's one way to celebrate thanksgiving/Christmas...

May 4, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterhannonle

I saw Homer after my initial shock of the scary little 3 pack the cake had. Sumbliminal adverting - the shame of it all!

May 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSusan

Okay, so 299 yuan is $47.84. That IS a lot to "fork over" for a butt-cake with a hypo jammed into it up to the hilt. why???

May 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterShirley Fowley

@Naomi - "defecating live sea anemones" = nice turn of phrase, that.

Not sure if the butt cakes are a "thing" or just one demented baker's idea (the two cakes pictured here look like they may have come from the same bakery), but I did find this about a company that's taken Chinese "moon cakes" to a whole 'nother level...

May 4, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterhyphen8

I.... just.... that first one is just way too hilarious!! (And as much as I love wrecky cakes in general, I'm reminded again that this site wouldn't be half as much fun without your commentary!!)

May 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

Do your Sunday hams
just not feel frilly enough?
Add frou-frou panties.

May 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterHaiku Joy

If Mr. Union Jack is actually supposed to be a dude, someone is going to be very disappointed.

May 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterShanti

#1. Plastic surgeon placed ab implants a little too high. I see a malpractice suit in his future. Also, chest hair on a cake, never a good idea! Also, male stripper "beef" cake for 18 year old Susie, probably also not a good idea.
#2. It's a chimpanzee, it's a chimpanzee, I just keep telling myself it's a chimpanzee. The other alternative is just too disturbing. Or as Phoebe would say, "His smooth area is just going to mess them up."
#3. Is it wrong that the spine and rib sections bother me more than the butt?
#4. Very disturbing on many levels. How far is that hypodermic shoved in there?! Yikes! But, then again, the Japanese do have an interesting sense of humor when it comes to butts and poop in the form of cake. So maybe to them it's a gas! Har har!

May 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSandy

The second cake is what we'd have seen if E.T. had gotten the part he auditioned for in Alien...

May 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDanS

Is it just me or does cake #2 look like Homer Simpson?

May 6, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSusan

Flower? Flower? Flower in a boulder??? ...and that's when the tics started.

May 7, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterFran_kly

is it wrong that I see a monkey face on the second one?

May 8, 2013 | Unregistered Commentertriciamama

Haha, it took a second look at this post for me to catch the pun: "A little warning." Get it? The word "warning" is in very tiny font! I just love a good pun, don't you? No? Um...okay...I'll just be over here, then. *hides*
