What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Pass Fail

Ok, bakers, you have one job. ONE JOB. Ready?

Here goes.

This plastic piece has football lacing on it, so -  still with me? Yes? - so just put it on a cake, like so:

...and voilà! Instant football.

Now, go find a brown cake, and put the piece of plastic on it. That's it. That's all. You literally cannot screw this up.

Annnnnd .... go.

What.

What are you doing.

Seriously.

TRY AGAIN.

Thanks to  Megan C., Michelle L., & Carol B. for the reminder to always keep it stupid, silly.

How's this for synchronicity? As I was reading Sharyn's song parody, an ad on TV for Shocker baseball came on playing "Take me out to the Ball Game" just in time for me to sing along. That's good because otherwise I can't carry a tune in a bucket.

I'm pretty underwhelmed by it all. Excuse me, I have to go lower my expectations-bar.
"Recent surgery cakes" would be an improvement.

KarateLady , please tell me you took the photo and didn't pay for that monstrosity!!

I like the pink one and thought "corset," too.

sorry, Craig, but I'd eat pineapple pudding cake. sounds delicious.

Louisiana crunch cake is also fab and has no plastic babies plus it's not deep fried. ;)

How does one *not* write in complete sentences? I won't even send a text in text language because it just hurts my eyes! Smart phones indeed...

Lol wow. Those cupcakes look like little poo blobs of doom. Especially with a football stitching on top. What on earth could make wreckerators think that adding that to it would make it more appealing?? Will just go hide under the bed til it is safe again hehe.

@KarateLady, congrats on the find.

Since I empathize, I wasn't arguing against tirades, just asking a rhetorical question. Yes, I know I should have signified by using a period instead of a question mark.

I love pudding cakes, and often make them. Here in the UK 'pudding' and 'dessert' are synonymous terms, so a pudding cake is one made to be eaten as a dessert. Yes, of course, that could be any cake, but a pudding cake normally has no icing/frosting, is quite damp and cries out for cream or ice cream to go with it. It usually contains fresh fruit or the larger kinds of dried fruit (apricots, prunes, figs).

Selling a mixed selection of pudding cake slices is a good idea. Slapping ANY kind of plastic flotsam on top is a terrible idea.

@Barbara Anne - Correct! I took the photo, *not* the cake. :-) I was surprised, though, because that particular store has very high standards (usually). I did not expect to find a wreck there (but always perused the displays cuz the Daughter insisted we do so just in case)...I suppose I (we?) should thank her for her insistence! :-) (That other cake of 'mine' that was posted was found in a different store that..uh...has different standards....and belongs to a different chain of stores... ;-)

@Craig - my bad - I shoulda known you were with us & not complaining! :-)
