The Far Side of Cake, Vol.8

The Ghosts of Leeches Past:

"Then I turned around, and BAM. There it was! Right here on the wall! I'm telling you, man, I think this crypt is haunted."

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.
Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

No haiku today, but in light of recent posts from Jen on Epbot, I am leaving a comment saying I liked this post very much.
The discovery of the ghost remora was accredited to a Mr. James Wimbledon. He had long maintained in his research of marine underwater phenomenons the existence of such a creature, but was not able to convince his colleges until this photo came to light. Unfortunately for his carrier Mr Wimbledon had long spent most of his money and time on fruitless research into proving the existence of the great zombie whale. Also due to declining health from a combination of age and snake juggling he was unable to publish any works that extrapolated further on his findings. Or as most scientists would call it, 'the ha ha you were wrong synopsis' school of writing.
In conclusion, the long awaited photo proof of the ghost remora sadly remains nothing more then a scientific curiosity.
"Ith going fine, Thteve. Thankth for athking!"
Ghosts of leeches past? Talking about congress? :P
Hilarious!
The first cake brings to mind this post from Hyperbole and a Half, when Allie had to sneak up on her grandfather's birthday cake:
http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/10/god-of-cake.html
I, however, have never felt a need to sneak. I just dive right in!
LOL!! Thanks Jen!
@SaraV: Oh, my goodneth-~ for thum reethun, that really tickled my funny boenth!!! =^~.~^=
The first one reminds me of my cat trying to stalk me. And for the record, I'm still calling him 'Dare. ;-)
Those aren't the ghosts of leeches past.
They're the ghosts of clubbed baby seals.
(blinkblink)... (blilnk)... (blinkblink)...
Too soon?
That second cake looks like it has golf balls with faces sitting on white tees. The "Boo" of course, is for the bad slice that's on the way. Eeeek!
HAHAHA!
I love the Far Side so much. And I love Cakewrecks. This is a beautiful marriage. Just wondering: what would the wedding cake look like? (Put a stick in it?!)
@SaraV - great post! :D
@mindy1 - right on!
I suppose "the ghosts of vampire bats past" just doesn't have the same ring to it...
#2 looks like the ghosts of ice cream cones past.
#3: The result of a late night game of Cake Decoration Toss.
It's the ghosts of the Round Table!
...guess being a ghost means you're shorter.
Off Topic: FIL is out of ICU. He's still at the hospital, but improving. Thank you all so much for your support.
Also Off Topic: Has anyone seen that new Lincoln car commercial? The voice-over guy actually says, "...a dream within a dream"! It cracks me up every time. I like to believe a Princess Bride fan works for the ad agency that wrote that commercial. :-D
@Jodee: Hope you are feeling better today.
@Just Andrea yay for FIL! Still keeping you all in my thoughts.
@Jodee I'm glad you call him 'Dare but does he answer? ;)
I think #2 has ghost mummy sperms since they look like their* wrapped in bandages.
*WHAT? I didn't want to use an apostrophe after yesterday. Humph.
All I can do is laugh hysterically at the your face will stick like that cake lmao. Luckily for me I never really was good at pulling weird faces or my face probably would have stuck. Ahh gotta love halloween wrecks. Can't wait to see what they will be on the 30th since that is going to be my fifth wedding anniversary.
Willem Dafoe? I'd scold you for being mean but I'm laughing too hard. I IMMEDIATELY saw it and now can't un-see it.
Thanks for the update @Just Andrea! So glad he is improving!!!
Yes, I'm feeling better. Yesterday was a little rough but I'm good today. Just in time for the weekend!!!
@Barbara Anne ~ Not so much o.O Kinda like his namesake...
This is so funny! Thanks for a great post!
#3: I read the caption & all I can think of is Jimmy Cagney in "White heat":
"Top of the world Ma! Top of the world!!".... *KA-BOOM!!!*
HAS ANYONE SEEN mel?? Seems like it's been a really long time!
