The American Way, Replayed

Technically Veterans Day was yesterday here in the U.S., but since a lot of us get today off to celebrate, CELEBRATE WE SHALL.
Veterans Day is all about honoring those who have and are serving in our country's military. There are lots of great ways to do this:
This is not one of them.
Now, I happen to know that a fair number of military personnel read this blog - a fact I find both humbling and just a teensy bit alarming, since I'm not sure those who share my twisted sense of humor should have access to heavy artillery. (Holy Hand Grenade, anyone?)
On the other hand, I do so enjoy all the e-mails with the giant "DECLASSIFIED" stamps on them. Makes me feel all James Bond-ish, only in an American, hermit-girl-blogger kind of way.
So in your honor, my dear veterans, here are some patriotic cake designs that will surely bring a tear to your eyes.
Tissue?
The underline is what really sells it.
Of course today is about you, the troops:
And as "Owl Troops" you deserve "Supott."
No wait, I take that back: this Wreck leaves me shaken, not stirred. [ba dum bump!]
Some bakeries pipe their greetings on clear plastic sheets, which they then lay on top of the finished cakes. It's cheating, sure, but this way bakers can trace their messages or start over if they make a mistake.
Or just slap the plastic on anyway and call it a "Vetrans" day.
...of Amercia?
Hang on, that doesn't sound right. Can we try that one again?
(But who stole the corner piece?!)
Thanks to Eric H., Dave K., Sara B., Nikki G., Adria P., Tory L., Michael H., Christina R., Tara L., & Allyson H. for fully vetting today's wrecks.

Support our hero's
what? And with the patented
cross-your-heart design?
CCCs on Ice!
Extend limbs, lead with the arm . . .
Hey look, I'm a star!
is the 'holy hand grenade' a Worms reference or a Monty Python one.. or both?! awesome as always Jen :)
Sung to “America the Beautiful”
Oh beautiful for chocolate smears
For random star cupcakes
For underlines that sell it all
Supott owl troops today!
Oh Veterans, oh Veterans, we wreck our cakes for thee
Applaud our Hero’s, as we should
On this, our Vetr ans Day!
Oh beautiful for knobbly flags
So stirring every way
For plastic sheets laid on just so
We’ll buy them all today!
Amercia, Amercia, looks better spelled this way
Amrica honors veterans
With its 5-sided cakes!
Heartfelt thanks to all our troops, past and present, and their families.
Did anyone turn these over to see if they were Made In China? (I've got my fingers crossed on that one, I really do)
With all due love, respect and honor to those who have served- and their families. Home of the free because of the brave, indeed. Many of us are grateful year round, too.
Thank you, veterans. Because you did that, I can do this.
Nononono... NO... That last cake actually IS for "Amrica". A country which is almost a perfect square, and includes a substantial portion of Canada and Mexico, but not California. No, really. The voices told me so! (And they're never wrong... Well, except for that one time...).
Scrolled down,saw green icing/frosting,not bad....
Scrolled more,cute little hat.....
Scrolled a bit more....
AUUUUUGGGGHHHHHH!!! Someone used that cookie as a toilet!!
@Sharyn, that song is really good. I can't hear the anthem without think of your version.
Yeah, and they put "U S A (something I can't tell)" on the part that looks like fecal matter.
If nothing else, I'm kind of impressed with the last one for actually having the current correct number of stars and stripes. Unlike ol' 33 and 5 up there (the one above "Stirring.").
I think they had to just slap that plastic sheet with the misspelled Veteran's Day on it since they ran out of time doing those 21+ stripes on the flag...we don't know how many total stripes since we can't see the edges of the cake, but clearly they got carried away! I guess they could have shared a few stripes with the wreckerator of the previous cake. We could probably also make ourselves crazy counting the inaccurate number of stars on most of these flags too!
The star cake rocks... I drew a star like that in kindergarten and my teacher started laughing a lot. At the time I thought it was because my star was so fancy. Now I know that between dealing with vomit and pee on the floor, kindergarten teachers have to take what humor they can get.
That corner piece might have gone the way of THIS corner piece
I Supott Owl Hero's Vet rans!
Seriously, thank you to all who are currently or were previously in the military and to all the military families.
Am I showing my "age" if I think this is a repost? Or are bakeries really not learning from their mistakes and making the same wrecks over and over and over.....?
I cannot tell you the number of times in my life I have heard people pronounce veterans as vetrans. I always just thought it was a Southern thing - perhaps not.
Thanks to all the veterans and their families!
@Sharyn ~ My 12 yr old sang that on Friday at her school assembly. I'm teaching her your version now!
Ummm...the cookie cake (IS that a cookie cake??) with the turd on it...at least they spelled 'USA' correctly...
"Amercia" - wasn't that a typo from a pre-election ad or something? So many people just re-write things the way they've seen them spelled and never check to find out if it was accurate. I've done the same thing, and learned the hard way.
Hero's - everyone knows that you use an apostrophe when you add an "S" to the end of a word. There was a pet store in our town that sold hamster's and bird's. Always good for a chuckle.
Being unaccustomed to the particular kind of cursive on the last few, I'm left wondering why anyone would want "Sod" to bless Amrica. I guess if one is having a hard time of late, one might refer to Jehovah as "a bit of a sod".
(I bet that last cake was for an Indian family. Many of them immigrate to "Amrica".)
While owl heros deserve sunday sweets everyday, I get the feeling that most of them would get a good laugh out of these cakes XD. Sharyn and Haiku joy, thanks as always for the giggles :D
OT, I GOT MY ELECTRICITY BACK YESTERDAY!!! Is there a cake for that?
The cakes are a disaster... thankfully our veterans are amazing!
@mindy1 -- Yay!! I hope things are getting back to normal.
Happy Veterans day and thank you to all who have served our country! You deserve better cakes than these!
A-Lawd A-have Amercia!!!!
mindy1, if there is one thing Cake Wrecks has taught me, it is that there is a cake for *everything.* If you can swing it, please have a cake to celebrate your electricity!
Zod bless Amricia!
What about Remembrance Day up in Canada? Don't forget your northern neighbours. (look! a teenager with okay grammar!)
"Supott Owl troops"?
I don't know for sure what the verb "supott" means, but I have a strong suspicion that the owls would not appreciate being supotted.
As my hubby said: "Hoo means no!"
So... I have one of those hats with an owl face on it, only mine's particularly cute and fluffy. I almost feel obliged to dress up as an owl troop now.
A Romney iPhone app spelled it Amercia.
AAHHHHH! My life is now complete! I submitted a wreck that was used on Cake Wrecks! So proud! *sniff* By the way, that cake came from [censored grocery store]. :)
Ahhh that lovely state of Amrica. Now if only I knew where that was lol. At least USA was spelled properly I mean how many ways can they screw that up? I am almost afraid to find out now that I said that..sheesh wreckerators!
I'm thinking of creating a 'suppository' app for my so-called smart phone, and sending app and phone to the manufacturer to celebrate the seemingly permanent loss of 'data connectivity' I just experienced today. Meanwhile, I re-upped my slower-than-snail-mail '3G' modem while I contemplate my options.
So I can get on here fairly regularly for the next month or so; just in time, I see.
#2 Since they're trying to make a pointy object out of round cupcakes, I'm surprised it turned out as well as it did. But I can't quite get past the irony of this creation being surrounded by examples of what a star ought to look like.
#10 I think this picture was snapped just as the Cakeoliers began their work.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for the number of times you've made me laugh! Thank you!!
Welcome back mindy1 and Craig
Well done on the holy hand grenade reference.
