What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Bottoms Up!

New Year's Eve isn't until tomorrow, but it looks like a few bakers have started celebrating early, if you know what I mean.

Yep. Definitely a whole lotta "celebrating" going on.

Yessirree, some serious merry-making.

I'm talking some exuberant saucy-sloshed tipsy-toppy revelry, people.

Ok, maybe we should address the elephant in the room.

THE BAKERS ARE DRUNK.

I mean, c'mon. How else can you explain this?

****

[head tilt]

Wow. What a waist.

I saw one of those CCCCs at [another store]. It also read 10:59 (as long as one isn't terribly picky about the accuracy of the hour hand). I'm as anxious to be rid of 2011 as the next person who is not a 2011 fan, but isn't that ringing in 2012 a tad early?

#3 looks like a big I, a champane glass, and a big fly trap all rolled into one. /\ #2 on the new year's party hat a line is missing if no one saw it if you did not see it than ha!

Erm... I think that the baker of the half baby found a disturbing way to re-purpose their heart shaped pan... which they're probably practicing with for forthcoming wreckage on Valentine's Day.

#1 I blame on digital clocks. All those young-whippersnapper cake decorators don't know an hour hand from a minute hand because all their clocks have numbers.
#5 - pink elephants - okay - Dumbo reference - got it :) However, I want to know when people started shoeing their elephants and what size horseshoes you need for a pink elephant???
#6 - half a baby on a COOKIE!! It's not even a proper cake and it definitely looks like they utilized their heart-shaped decorating tool to make that "full"-sized diaper.
Happy New Year Jen, John and all Cake Wreckerators around the world.

What the hell is that blue and yellow cupcake monstrosity? Is that a nuclear bomb going off over the Pacific?

I think #3 is pornography.

#2 is clearly a tribute to the classic Georg Baselitz painting "Dalek molesting snail while playing Mozart"

uh... am I the only one that saw #3 as a block of butter balancing on the Washington Monument?

Must call plumber now.

@juliettesjules - despite everything else about this 1st cake being "wrong", the time represented is 11:55. Trust me, I go through this "big hand is on the such and such and the small hand is on the such and such" with my child on a nearly daily basis. I've almost got time-telling down to a science.

Darn you and your subliminal mind tricks! At first I read printed label on cake #3 as c**k cake w/ buttersperm frosting"...

you can find cake decorating stores that sell all kinds of decor for a cake. Including tiny beer cans.

Cake #3 celebrates that grand tradition of the New Year's Mallet, which is swung to knock out the old year and strike up a noise for the new one!
