Sunday Sweets: So Stinkin' Cute
This week we're featuring some of the sweetest, cutest, most adorable, lovable, um... [consulting thesaurus] darling, bewitching, and fetching baby animal cakes you ever will see. Why? Well, if you must know, I'm feeling a bit sensitive this week.
This is john, by the way.
So, let me just get my box of tissues and we'll do this thing. Starting with Jen's favorite:
The hand-painted shading here is amazing. And the animals are adorable. And the lion isn't eating the zebra or the giraffe. So it's a win-win-win.
See how the monkey and giraffe cower in fear as the mighty tiger stalks his prey? Can you feel the tension? Can. You. FEEL IT?!?! No?
And now... sweet sleeping dragon!
Awwww. Okay. *sniff* I'm all verklempt. *sniff* I promised myself I wouldn't cry...
[blowing nose]
Hey! Look! Pandas!
Literally. I think the lack of neck really adds to the adorabletude, don't you?
So. Cool. Jen says this reminds her of some Lisa Frank folders she had in middle school. Which she claims is a huge compliment. So there.
And get this: this is Aletha B.'s first cake. Yes, really! Mike, Duff, and Bronwen better watch out, 'cuz Aletha B.'s coming, and she's got a Cthulhu.
Adorable. And hip. Oh. Yeah.
Another of Jen's favorites:
a unicorn with a comb-over:
You're welcome.
One's for little kids:

I can't decide which cake I like the most the pandas or the tiger. I would love the first book ( the one for kids) I teach kindergarten and my class would love this book.
love your site....would love the 2nd book.
Angela
I wanna win! SO cute, I am bloated with cute!
The Baby Chthulu cake is awesome... And I'm okay with either book... cute fuzzy baby animals just do it for me!
that first book is so cute, the little tiger just looks so cuddly!
Love the first cake - reminds me of the bumper/wallpaper we had for my daughter when she was a baby - it was called "Judy's Jung'e" and had animals like that one.
I'd go for the second ZooBorn book, if I got the chance...
We'd love the second book, as we're currently expecting our second-born.
Oh the first book looks adorable. If by any chance I'm randomly picked, I'd like that one.
This is avery hard choice but by a hair I like 2nd book
This is avery hard choice but by a hair I like 2nd book
I love all of them, reminds me of some of the icing animals we do at the bakery I work at. The Chthulu is so cute!
I'd love the second book!
I need teh kyoot. The second book would make my day. :)
zooborns for kids sounds like something mine would like
Absotively wondermus cakes today! I have a soft spot in my head for baby cakes.....Anyways! I like either ZooBorn book! My boys love animal books :)
Those cakes are so adorable! We have a little one due next month (30 days to be exact!) and I already have Jungle Baby cake ideas running through my head for his first birthday- haha! Well as far as the books go, the second one is adorable! (Is that a fox?)

I would love the Zoo Born book for "grown-ups." So cute! Squee!
I simply must have that Panda cake! So cute. My son would love the zooborn book.
I'd like the book for kids. My 2 year old son loves animals!
First, I love that today's post was done by John. Gotta love a man with a tender side. ^_^
My fave is probably the first one. I absolutely love the detail on the palm trees!
Does the tiger cake make anyone else think of one of those cats from the game Kinectimals? Heehee!
As always, I love this blog! Thanks for keeping it real. ;)
I'd really like the second Zooborns book! They're both adorable, but I like the cover of the second one the most.
Excellent post, as usual!

I would love the Zoo Borns book for "grown-ups." So cute! Squee!
Great tie-in with Zooborns! My kids love that site and would be so excited to have the kids' Zooborns book. I'm going back to staring at the pink-beribboned Baby Cthulhu now.
I WANT!!! I WANT!!!!! And I don't care which one. SO CUTE (tho I also have a thing for tigers, so I like the first cover better.)
The detail on the teddy bears..!!
Amazingness.
So cute! I'd love Zoo Borns! the first.
Love Love Love that sculpted giraffe cake a lot!
The book for little kids is perfect, I've got a 10.5 month old and a 3 year old who loves to read to her baby brother. <3
The second book, definitely!
I love the no-neck giraffe!
I adore the second book..thanks!
I like the Zooborn book for BIG kids! :)
squeee, Tare Panda!! <3
and baby Chthulu!! I think my head asploded.
I desperately want both those books, but I think if I had the one for babies I could share it with my little niece I can teach her to squee. :D
I LOVE THE GIRAFFE CAKE!!!
And the second book :)
I loooooove the pandas and the hippo! The cutest! And I second zooborn book is adorable - hope I win!
I'd be happy with either one! :) Huge Zooborns fan!
Baby Cthulu rocks!
The "aawwwww" factor was set to high for ALL of these cakes!
The second book. I would give it to my anthropologist/zoologist friend who introduced me to ZooBorns!
These are amazing! The baby Chthulu (or perhaps just a Chthulu getting all dolled up) is amazingly creative. You know that was for the parents as much as it was for the child. I haven't read the Zooborns books but with six nieces and nephews under age 7 (and one nephew arriving in April), either would be an awesome win to have on hand for visits! I also work as a doula and keep kids' books on hands for wee siblings-to-be to read while mom labors, so why not add to the bag of tricks? Side note: I can't wait to search online to find a fennec cake! (The big-eared beauty on the cover of the second book is a fennec and is just made for over-the-top cuteness.)
Makes me want to go borrow someones kid just to have a cake made for them!!
And book #2 please ;)
What an adorable teddy bears cake!
How generous! I would love the first book for children since I work with children.
Thanks for the daily smiles!
I can vouch for Jenn - the tiger is definitely Lisa Frank-esque. I had tons of those folders and pencils and notebooks etc etc etc. But my fave is either the stack o' pandas or the unicorn.
I'd love the one for everybody else :) Too cute!!!!
The second book would be my choice. Although the panda cake is really what I want - adorable.
Claire
I would love to get the baby one for my 5-month old daughter but would be happy with either one.
Both books look sweet, but if I have to choose I'll take the second one.
Adorable cakes, and just in time! My son is turning 1 soon and I needed some inspiriation! Thanks!
Love all those super-cute cakes. As for the books, either one would be fine.
I love the unicorn with the combover. Since I have 2 girls who are in love with all animals, especially baby ones, I would like to have the Zooborns geared to younger readers. Thanks! I love your blog. So funny...
Paige
Just sat here with my 16 month old and we ooooo'd and ahhhhh'd together.... LOL Great post today!!!
Is it too late? Is it? I want a book! Any book!
These Sweets are just adorable, and the 'first' cake? I don't believe. It's just perfect!
I think these cakes are just too cute!!! The "Lisa Frank" tiger cake really brought me back to grade school too! It was just so GGGRRREEEAAATTT!!! (as Tony the Tiger may say. I would love to have the first book listed. Thanks for offering to share them!
Lisa K
Oh my God, baby Cthulu. Awesome.
I'd love either book so much!
We love the first Zooborn book, so fun!
