What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

We...... Need Your Help!

Hi Guys!

We've been tweaking some things here on the site recently in an attempt to improve load time and reduce glitches, but we're afraid this tweaking may have angered the tiki gods/gremlins/Blogger bogeys. And since every web browser presents a whole new fun set of complications, testing them all out is difficult.

That's where you come in.

Please, tell us in the comments if you had any problems loading, viewing or interacting with the site today. (This includes any RSS feed wonkiness.) In addition, if you don't mind, please let us know if your virus software or filters are blocking the site or any of the pictures. And remember, this is for posterity so, be honest.

Thanks, everyone!

Update: There are no images on this post and the link at the bottom of this post for Help for Haiti should not have an image either.

'Nother Update: Hey, Internet Explorer users! First of all, you really should be using a different browser. [grin] However, we know you don't all have a choice in the matter, so we're still working on getting all the IE kinks worked out. We'll update again when we've made more progress, but please be patient (and maybe try Firefox) in the mean time. Thanks!

IE 8/Windows 7 PC: When I click on the "Classics" tab, none of the words of the links appear BUT the links are actually there (float over changes mouse icon from arrow to hand).

RSS to my FB page showed up fine, clicked the link and it loads about the same as it did. I'm using Mozilla, but I don't blame your site, my PC is old and tired and really doesn't like animated ads and such, or warm days, or random Tuesdays..or or or...:P

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTiffany

I've opened it up on 3 different computers running 3 OS and in Internet Explorer and Firefox and all was good! Looks great!

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJulienne

Looks good and loads very fast on IE8.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterRobin

Showed up perfectly fine with Firefox for me! :)

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTrish

I'm on a PC accessing via Firefox thru your FB link... I've had no problems today (6-2-10) accessing your site or viewing images, until this "We... need your help" post on FB this afternoon. Site loading was noticeably faster this evening. However, at the bottom, in the "more more more" section, I'm not seeing the 'Help for Haiti' image. Besides that, I see no problems.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered Commentervertizoo

Definitely faster on XP/Google Chrome!

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKID, MD

HEY jen! I'm using firefox google and i've had no prob so far except that one of your MORE!MORE!MORE! links did not exist.....did anyone else notice this?

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSheepLover14

vista, firefox, on a compaq--loads like normal..tried it in IE8, maybe a fraction slower, but that could be many things...both look fine. And Janet, is that a Red Dwarf reference? If not, carry on. :)

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterjmadison77

No problems, except there was no "Help for Haiti" link at the bottom.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJan

I didn't have any problems, and it really did seem faster to me! I can't wait to see your next post!

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMelissa

Looks great on the iPad with both wireless and 3G

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

It loaded faster than usual using firefox.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTraci

If I come onto CakeWrecks the normal way (thru your main page) there are no problems.

If I use the Facebook link to this specific post, my computer freezes up & I have to reboot to get the page to close. I'm running IE8 on my laptop

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBoogie Bear

Using Firefox and Chrome, I had no problems. Using IE, the page loaded just fine, but in order to close my browser, I had to click the "back" button to go back to my main page before closing out the browser. I can't get the IE browser to close if I'm on the Cakewrecks site. I'm not exactly sure why. But, then again, I never use IE. I just was trying the site out on all the various browsers we have on our computer.

using Google Chrome, took a little longer to load than usual, but no other problems

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered Commentertepid duck

I'm a PC with Norton 360 and using Firefox, and everything looks good to me. ;)

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnne

Win7 Pro 64 bit encryption
SeaMonkey & Firefox

Wow! Loads fast! Nothing looks wonky at all. Don't you just love coding?

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterEq4bits

Everything has worked fine today, no problems.

Windows 7, 64-bit, 6mg AT&T DSL that hardly ever works right... no problems here!

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered Commentercup

OH! - Using Firefox here!

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered Commentercup

Windows XP with IE8 and it was slow loading and scrolling after it claimed to be "done"... froze up for a bit.
Just pulled it up again with google chrome and had no problems... perhaps that's a sign for which browser I should be using.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterlauren

Windows 7 with Firefox - looks good to me.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterArwen

iMac with Safari; it all looks okay here.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDiana

I've had no problems, I'm on a Mac using Firefox. Your updates haven't given me any problems, though this one hasn't shown up yet--followed the link from FB.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKanko and Jade

Google Chrome working fine.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMommabees

on google chrome working fine

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMommabees

Using a PC with Chrome and no problems viewing but of the three links at the bottom, the last two (pick a cover and Haiti) are dead.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAshley Cunningham

Looks fine on Chrome and in Google RSS. I only use the standard windows antivirus and firewall..

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterkaraagnarsdottir

You win for quoting my favorite movie. Princess Bride ftw.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKaty

Running Firefox 5.o with TrendMicro antivirus. No problems ever. Don't do RSS, though, so can't help you there. Please remove The Machine leads from my body now, I hear Miracle Max is on vacation.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLaura

I didn't think anyone in the world was as much of a Princess Bride freak as me, but you take the cake! (oh, and everything was fine with the post even on my crappy work computer)

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterOriana

One of the three More! More! More! links that showed up was to choose the Cake Wrecks book cover. It goes to http://www.cakewrecks.com/2009/05/choose-cake-wrecks-cover.html which my browser claims doesn't exist.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

I checked at work on Internet Explorer, no problems.
Before today I would often have to reload the page to see all the pictures.

I checked at home on Firefox, no problems.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTori

On a PC using Firefox...no problems! :)

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterShari

I'm on a PC using Firefox and having no problems at all.

I was using IE last month and had no problems with that either.

My virus protector (Avast) is not trying to block your site.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMary

It's working perfectly on my Mac running Firefox with AdBlock.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJoan

I'm on Win 7 on firefox 3.6.3 and it works fine for me.

Thanks for all you both do.

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

June 2, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterThistlebear
