What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

We...... Need Your Help!

Hi Guys!

We've been tweaking some things here on the site recently in an attempt to improve load time and reduce glitches, but we're afraid this tweaking may have angered the tiki gods/gremlins/Blogger bogeys. And since every web browser presents a whole new fun set of complications, testing them all out is difficult.

That's where you come in.

Please, tell us in the comments if you had any problems loading, viewing or interacting with the site today. (This includes any RSS feed wonkiness.) In addition, if you don't mind, please let us know if your virus software or filters are blocking the site or any of the pictures. And remember, this is for posterity so, be honest.

Thanks, everyone!

Update: There are no images on this post and the link at the bottom of this post for Help for Haiti should not have an image either.

'Nother Update: Hey, Internet Explorer users! First of all, you really should be using a different browser. [grin] However, we know you don't all have a choice in the matter, so we're still working on getting all the IE kinks worked out. We'll update again when we've made more progress, but please be patient (and maybe try Firefox) in the mean time. Thanks!

Noticed this morning (Thursday) on Safari for OSX, the banner is funny - the tagline and BlogHer buttons are squished into the CakeWrecks banner.

I'm using firefox right now and the top of the page is all screwed up... the cakewrecks logo is overlapping the text, etc.

Using Firefox, on the first load I can see the page title and the CW logo, but the posts don't come up until I refresh the page at least once.

I can't read cake wrecks at work anymore. For some reason this website is now flagged.

Bah.

I use Firefox; today, the Cakewrecks logo is superimposed with the links and part of the title from today's post.

Your post showed up in my Google RSS yesterday, and it appears it was actually posted Tuesday?

Also the banner is dropped down into the post, if that makes sense. The Cake Wrecks logo is behind the links "Home Press FAQ etc." and the carrot jockeys are slightly hidden by the search field. It's like the posts are on a transparency and the transparency has slid out of place against the background.

Firefox, some sort of fancy Mac computer that they gave me at school

Actually, I have IE at work and Safari at home and it loaded faster than usual on both. Yay :-)

Marlene,

Hey can you e-mail us more information. I'm actually working directly with Google on this.

Thanks,

Jen

Use IE7 at work (sigh... no choice) and couldn't get the site to load at all. Couldn't load it yesterday either. At home on Firefox (and IE8) everything's fine for me.

firefox is showing (for me) the cakewrecks logo kind of low right now. it's blocking the navigation and i have a big blue bar at the top. not too distressing, though. i still got my wrecks :)

windows vista with explorer. not sure when you posted this, but everything is fine on my end. i don't think i have ever had issues with your site, come to think of it.

I'm using Firefox, and have had no problems.

I guess I'm late but... if it still useful for you, I've seen your blog using:

*Windows + Firefox = Good
*Mac OS X + Safari = Good
*Mac OS X + Firefox = Good
*Mac OS X + Opera = Good
*Ubuntu + Firefox = Good
*Ubuntu + Opera = Good
*Ubuntu + Midori = Good

In Firefox I use AdBlock+FlashBlock+NoScript and no problems. I also play with the settings a bit to make it quicker and it pays, though it's still quicker when I load it with Midori.

I guess you're still tweaking, because the comments now look great in Firefox 3.6.3/Windows 7/no adblock/Norton 360. :) Light blue link text, white comment text, mid blue boxes all appearing correctly. Also I haven't had any problems the whole time with the Cake Wrecks title picture alignment (and I like it a lot!). The ad above the page still aligns left on my wide screen while absolutely everything else is centred nicely, but no big deal.

Good luck with the tweaking, hope it's nearly finished!

Sometimes the page will not open and I get "This site is not responding" and it will sit there awhile before it finally loads. I'm using cable hookup.

Everything works great here. I'm just purely excited to hear so many Princess Bride quotes and I wanted to share that.
Also,@Nicky, what's a droid?

June 6, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMissNay

Thumbs up for including Galaxy Quest AND The Princess Bride quotes. : ) Oh, and far as I can tell, everything's fine. We're all fine, here. Thank you. How are you?

June 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLeedleFishy

...although, it IS going to take me a while to get used to only 3 posts per page. : /

LOVE the Princess Bride reference! I live for them! Also, no problems on a Mac with either Safari or Firefox.
