What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Ode to Spring

With apologies to Peter, Paul, and Mary.

 ****

Where have all the flowers gone?

I'm just asking!

Where have all the flowers gone?

I'd like to knooow

Where have all the flowers gone?

Bakers have wrecked them every one!

Oh when will we ever learn?

Oh when will weeee...

...ever learn?

 And where has comprehension gone?

I'm just asking!

Does anything here strike you wrong?

I'd like to knooooow.

Where has comprehension gone?

It's literally no fun!

But bakers, have no concern

We like that youuuu...

... never learn.

Thanks to Allison W., Mandy G., Julie G., Beth Ann C., Jenn G., Will E., Anna B., Dana G. & Anony M., for the literal ear worm.

(Ew.)

All I have to say is that poor Bambi would be so confused.

Yeaah, the NBC bundt cake is missing a flower in the center, because someone was being cheap I guess. lol

Wow. Just put a picture of a flower on the cake if you can't figure out what they are lol. Then again that probably would make things worse. Just a flower is just plain lazy. But then again who really buys those huge cookie things?

Not for nothin', but that ad with the woman with a drum for a head is 100 times more disturbing than any cake ever shown on this site. Seriously, WTF?

@Haiku Joy, I so wish I had a teacher such as you in my life. It would have made my English classes much more interesting! Can't wait for your report!

@mel, through The Power of Love, Everything Will Be Alright.

Now, I feel the need to plant a flower. Just a flower.

That mushroom is beautifully rendered.

On the NBC, I thought that white stuff looked like the insulation that foams up to fill empty spaces. No way I could eat that cake.

I would like to see someone order a cake with the request for "Lucy in the sky with diamonds" and see what they get. Think of the possibilities.

March 22, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDS

@mel No problem, I recognised it anyway, although I did think maybe you thought I should be playing Quidditch for Gryffindor! ;)

Though Peter, Paul, and Mary's version of "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" is the definitive version for me, since I grew up with their 10th anniversary album, it was originally written by Pete Seeger.

I don't imagine that he'd be any more impressed by these cakes than PP&M would be.

Is that a wood ear mushroom on that second cake?

"Adam with blue flowers" nearly made me snarf my coffee. Thanks. :)

@M.Dale - <grin> You win the overly-educated-total-geek award! :-) (I love The Glass Menagerie!)

@mel - as others have said...there are no words...left! FTW! :-)

Maybe they told their friends about their upcoming use in these cakes and they freaked out.
