What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Peace Out

Imagine these are peace signs

It's easy if you squint

No need to wonder
Look, here's another hint:

Imagine all the bakers
Failing in this way:

*headdesk*

(Ow OW owww ow ow ow...)

Imagine education
It isn't hard to do
Hey, look, this is a peace sign:

Is that so hard for you?

Imagine all the people!
Asking, "what's with the Ys?"

(Why WHY why why whyyy?)

You may saaay I'm a screamer

(No, no, noooo!)

But that's not the only one

(Ah, ah, AAAAAAH)

I hope some day they'll wise up

(Theeey neverrrr wiiiilll)

But 'til theeeen
This piece is done!

Thanks to Amy K., Tracy S., Chris H., Lauri K., Angi, Lindsey S., Cheryl N., Kim Z., & Daisy, who think Mercedes should give me a kickback for this post. AND I AGREE.

I must admit- I thought the Ys were vaguely wrong for peace signs but I couldn't have told you why...
some of those color combos were nauseating or nausea-inducing. your choice.
cake #2 is an alien which weeps for baked goods on this planet.

Hmm...is it just me or do these Y-signs look like...round thong sandals? Kinda like for the feet of the animals in Kung Fu Panda or something...

This was a triumph! I'm making a note here: huge success.
{--The cake is a Y.]

I wonder how many of the people getting these lovely things thought they were actually getting a Mercedes as a present? Lol how tragic that one of the cakes looks like a Y with mold underneath it. Scary and perfect for halloween.

@Airrider:
That would be one Baked To Be Wild cake! It sounds yummy, but I'd be afraid to take a ride on it.

the one with the car "might" be a steering wheel. The rest??? I am one of those who was glad to see the model peace sign since after all the Y's I couldn't quite figure out what was wrong.

I can't believe that after so many comments no one has pointed out that in cake 2, the 'peace sign' is on a camo cake! That is just so WRONG!

Thought it might interest you to know that there are many Christian factions who dislike the traditional 4-spoke peace sign as it is a "broken cross" (and therefore evil/anti-Christ etc), so they have adopted this inverted-Y peace sign as the more acceptable version of the symbol. Don't ask how I know this price of trivia....

@Airrider: I would LOVE to see that cake in person!!!!

Thanks for the smiles, Jen! I think we all need a little piece of peace. :D But honestly, these cakes were just making it easier for roommates to agree on how to slice cake. If it's clearly marked in frosting by an objective third person then nobody breaks the roommate agreement by snitching a bigger slice of cake than the other two!

That is so funny, because when I play Draw Something and I have to draw peace, apparently I always draw the Mercedes logo, and not the peace sign! LOL!

Looks like it's all about Mercedes this week.

The Y in a circle is the Mercedes Benz logo. A peace sign has a line between the two arms of the Y.

Back in the 90's my stepsisters insisted this was the CORRECT peace sign. Why? Because the OTHER peace sign is a broken crucifix and therefore WRONG.
(Seriously, we spent hours trying to get a green peace sign right at the age of 12)
Perhaps this belief is more widespread than we'd thought?
