What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

When Steampunks Graduate?

"Prithee, lord Westerbunkle, wouldst thou care for a celebratory spot of Earl Grey?"

Rowenna O., I vote we don our tiny hats and glue some gears on this thing, STAT.

@CrAig I have twice started an encyclopedia but keep getting bogged down in re-reading everything and forget I'm to be cataloging instead. I've also tried to work out the calendar with all the interesting holidays but same issue. Some fails one doesn't mind as it was fun!

@Caroline B & DB you rock!

@CatTrampoline the only thing better than your name is the butter comment

@Sharyn O.M.G. you'd best hope Mr. T likes his ballad :D I love it enormously

also missing Haiku Joy and mel (summer vacation, maybe?) but if everyone's sure Theardare's behaving then we probably shouldn't worry

@KarateLady -- I thought it was hilarious that Threadless sent me a link for THIS shirt, today. I think you'd like it: http://www.threadless.com/product/3602/A_French_Ninja_Cat/tab,guys/style,shirt

Lol I am loving all the comments. And the Monkees song tickled me near to death thanks Sharyn lol. As for the valid victorian.. glad this person was not a fake. Otherwise something painful from the wreckerators could have been involved and no one wants to see what they could do to them.

I keep reading Valid Victorian as a label, as in this cake is a Valid Victorian cake that uses a period recipe and baking method or that this cake is for Valid Victorians only. The latter is just mean, though, because Invalid Victorians deserve cake, too.

Or you're celebrating the fact that you met a Valid Victorian, because who wouldn't celebrate successful time travel? Except possibly Morlocks, luddites, and people who watch Fringe and know what the Observers are really doing.

And can people please stop talking about changing the jockeys? I keep having to scroll back up to look at them and make sure nothing's changed.

I think I should have slept more.

Oh come on, Pseudonym! Maybe the little guys would like some variety. They could be waving little flags for Flag Day today, and they could carry torches during the Olympic Games this summer, and they could have little "Baby New Year" sashes for New Year's Day!

Please don't kill me, Jen and John(thoJ). I'm really not trying to blow up your Photoshop. Really.

@BADKarma - I'd wear this t-shirt.

The flowers are gorgeous.

I've neglected "comments' for so long I don't really know what Epcot is. Maybe a safe place to escape the overly critical?

This might be my favorite wreck yet. I wish steampunk had been around when *I* graduated... *sips her Earl Grey and fiddles with some gears*

I'm waiting for the cake that says "Congratulations, Val and Dick Torian!"

Maybe it's because I've been up w-a-y too late, but I'm literally laughing so hard that I'm crying! How does one go about validating a Victorian???!!! Do you check the birth certificate? Give him/her words of constructive encouragement???

@Barbara Anne,

Thank you! No, it's not summer vacation that's got me. It's a combo of mostly-bad-things which have really sapped my mental and emotional energy. I'm trying to be good and to get back in the swing of things. I notice that I'm generally in much better spirits when I'm a Cake Wrecks daily contributor.

This one made me laugh so hard that I think if I had gotten it I would have thanked the baker and tipped them generously. Either that or thrown at them and cried. Having a teenager can make one emotionally unstable like that.

Some In-valid victorians due to not being respectable, English, or both: Jules Verne (France), Grandfather of Steampunk. Elizabeth Stanton(England), one of the founders of Women's Sufferage. Susan Anthony(America), ditto. Amelia Bloomer, Suffragette, pioneer of fashion. Carrie West (America), Lecturer in theaters and music halls for women's rights. Helen Bradley Levisee (America), divorcee, single mother of four, breadwinner, anti-bully(took on a teacher that was bullying her oldest daughter).
In case you are wondering the last two are related to me. One was my great-grandmother and the other was a distant cousin. How awesome is that?!

@Sharyn - How did I miss your comment?! Great shirt! I gotta get one! :-)

@Haiku Joy - take care of yourself, first & always. Recharge, renew, and release your worries. :-)

@mouse, here's what happens when you order a cake saying "Summa cum laude": http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-44217118
