What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sunday Sweets Celebrates Parks and Rec

July is Parks and Recreation Month!

(By Jeanne Zubov of St. Petersburgh, featured here.)

If you think I'm going to use this as an excuse to post a bunch of fun cakes and reminisce about Parks & Rec the series, then you are absolutely correct.

But first:

"Marta, I'm gonna need two hours' worth of waffles."

(By Lauren Kitchens in Texas)

THIS'LL DO.

Besides, when else could I feature an awesome shoe-shine cake?

(By Sweet Ruby Cakes in Australia)

I bet Andy would love that name for his shoe-shine stand, too.

You may see a cute pony, but *I* see Li'l Sebastian:

(By Little Aardvark Cakery in Ireland)

::sniff:: SO CUTE.

Then there's the man, the myth, the legend:

(By Eat Cake Be Merry in New York)

And perhaps his greatest legacy:

(By Cakes Decor member Julia)

ALL the breakfast foods!

Believe it or not, someone actually made a Cones of Dunshire cake - and it's awesome!

(By Jam Cakes in Oregon)

It's all about the cones.

This reminds me of Leslie's favorite wildflower mural:

(By Yatt's Lil Kitchen in Malaysia)

So gorgeous - and all buttercream! I can't get over those razor sharp edges, wow.

Oooh, here's a beauty worthy of Duke Silver himself:

(By Mladman Cakes in Bulgaria)

Best saxophone cake I've ever seen - and yes, the sax is edible!

I suppose we should bring it back to this nation's parks, though, since that IS what we're celebrating this month:

(By Christina's Cakery in Michigan, found here.)

I had to double-check that the animals are hand-sculpted; I thought they were store-bought figurines!
Incredible.

Well, however you celebrate this month, minions, don't forget to TREAT YO'SELF:

(By Arte Da Ka in Brazil)

Sure, some folks like bubble baths... I'll take the cake. ;)

Happy Parks & Recreation Month, and happy Sunday, everyone!

I'll be extremely disappointed if there isn't a follow up post tomorrow entitled "Celebrating parks and wreck" hehe

Is two hours of waffles supposed to be two hours of waffle production, waffle consumption, or distraction from the existential crisis of one's life?

July 15, 2018 | Unregistered Commenter3davideo

I suppose "two hours of waffles" could refer to "all the waffles I can eat in two hours." But then, it could also refer to "all the waffles that can be made in two hours on one waffle iron," which would be a LOT more waffles. There might even be other ways that one could interpret it.

Am I waffling?

Wait, I just thought of another possible interpretation!

I don’t usually laugh while reading Sunday Sweets but I read Monday’s post first and then this one. Omg. Seeing these with the wrecks still in my mind made me laugh so hard. I mean these are gorgeous but wow, Monday’s wrecks really take the cake. Ha! Disnt even plan that! We should take those cakes far far away. Thank for being you.

I love that the Cones of Dunshire cake was made by a company called Jam Cakes. I only hope they continuously say "You've been Jammed!" while baking.
