Sunday Sweets BRINGS CAKE To The Library!

It's National Library Week this week, so who's ready to sink your teeth into a good book or two?
(By Janette MacPherson Cake Craft)
Or seven or eight?
Assuming you can convince anyone these are edible, of course.

Have you seen the new 3D storybook trend? Because it is SO COOL:
Talk about a tall tale!
And "wood" you believe this retirement cake?
(By Merritt's Bakery)
Tsk. SO SHELF-ISH.
:D
(I've decided we need more librarian-themed cakes, y'all, because librarians rock and that cake is awesome.)
Here's another storybook cake, this time more like a pop-up:

Loooove those illustrations. Seriously. Unlike the cake, I'm melting.
Ooh, here's an idea for my fellow bibliophiles:

A book-themed wedding cake!
(Even the teacup and candle are edible! YOWZA.)
This next one won gold in a Tolkien-themed tribute contest, and it's easy to see why:

What sorcery is this??
Awe. I AM IN AWE.
Do you think instead of cutting the cake they just handed out books for everyone to eat? Because that would make me indescribably happy.
Speaking of sorcery and happiness, we can't celebrate books and the magical places that let us read them for free without a little Potter magic, now can we?

Sha-pow.
And one more, which isn't technically a book because it's a journal, but I think you'll forgive me:

Because oooooh. [grabby hands]
Slytherins never follow the rules anyway, right?
And finally, let's end with the sweetest lil' library cake you ever will see:
D'awwww.
Now, who wants to go to the library? Remember to thank a librarian while you're there!
Happy Sunday, everyone! Hope it's Sweet!

The face in the Tolkien-themed tribute cake!
So cute
You made this Librarian's day. Thank you. :)
As a librarian (medical) myself, I am in awe of all these wonderful Sunday sweets. Awesome post guys!

<crying> NOOOOOO! I don't want to eat them!!
Thank you for celebrating books! And cakes! And bookcakes! And Librarians! I'm a small-town librarian, and I approve this Sunday Sweets. (Well, I approve all Sunday Sweets, but that would be a different comment.)
These are a delight!
And good for the heart & soul, too. My ex-librarian mother died recently (peacefully at 87, surrounded by her loving family of readers), and I'm spending most of the week packing up thousands of her books to go to various family members as requested, before taking the remaining ones to her local public library's booksale.
So these sweet book-cakes are even sweeter for their timing.

If the chair in that last cake was real I would love to curl up in it and read.
Love the fact that bakers chose to honor Library Week. As a member of the local Library Board and a Certified Trustee. It does my heart good to see all the beautiful cakes. Thank you!
I am in awe of the wedding cake. Picture #6
It's the most elegant one that I have seen in quite some time.
So pretty and yummy at the same time. Who knew books could be so sweetly fulfilling?
These must have all been SO much fun to create! It almost feels like an exhibition for a special, library milestone event, or something else "booky" .....No, not THAT kind. (That'd be "ie", anyway.)
My parents were huge book collectors, and readers, and this post reminded me of a childhood full of auctions, libraries, book sales, and the love of reading....!
Beautiful!
Books AND cake?? Who could ask for more? Well, maybe a cake knife and a fork. Oh, and a glass of milk would be nice plus a plate, that would be handy. A chair, a comfy chair and napkins and a second slice and a scoop of ice cream and . . .
Oh, and I missed this yesterday! These are unreal, gorgeous, uplifting, and just FUN cakes. Books, my first love (yes, even before cake). Thanks Jen, for a little bitty happy gift for my birthday--even though I didn't see it until today!
Check out Italian 16th century artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo, whose work was obviously the inspiration for the face-made-of-books-cake.
My birthday was yesterday, too! And as a voracious reader for *ahem* many years, I absolutely love that this was my birthday Sunday Sweets!
I am a librarian and cake lover! What a great shout out to libraries and librarians!
I've never heard of the "Naughtiest Girl" books before. Just had to Google it. Probably will get fired if my boss checks my browser history.
I was unaware of Library Week, but I would love a <I>Librarians</I> cake. But maybe I just want an edible Christian Kane. Hmmmm.
