Sunday Sweets To MARVEL Over

Have you guys seen Deadpool yet? I haven't, though it looks hilarious. Be honest, though; does anyone else find it ironic that "The Merc With A Mouth" wears a costume... with no mouth?
Poor Deady, can't even eat his own cake.
That's the last Deep Thought for today, though. Because if there's one thing we've learned from superheroes, it's that you should never dwell too long on the logic behind their costumes.
So instead, we'll just dwell on the awesomeness of these Marvel cakes!
(And also the smoothness of my segues. Eh??)
Iron Man:
(By Cakes By Susan)
Oooh, those overlapping "metal" plates are positively... riveting.
:D
Black Widow:
(By Nerdache Cakes)
That moment when a cake has better hair than you.
Here's one you don't see as often:
Punisher:
(By Whipped Up By Mimi)
LOVE this monochromatic look, and it really looks like an art canvas on cake! Gorgeous.
Thor:
(By Don Buciak)
And speaking of art, that's all buttercream, y'all. No fondant!
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Don Buciak is DA MAN.
Here's one of the best superhero combo cakes I've seen:
The feathers on Thor's helmet are soooo good, and check out the "flying" bricks from Hulk's punch!
Agent Carter:
(By The Butter End)
More amazing head gear; it's hard to believe Peggy's iconic red hat here is actually cake!
And one for Peggy's ex -
Captain America:
(By Daatjes Taarten)
I like the old school comic look.
Here's another guy you don't see too often:
Ghost Rider:
(By Sugar Inspired)
HOT.
Venom:
(By Traci Martin)
That's one cake that looks like it bites back!
And finally, a Marvel mash-up with a brilliant use of edible photo paper:
(By Saving With Sarah)
I especially like how she used the 3D "exploding" brickwork in the middle to give it more dimension. Super cool!
Happy Sunday, everyone!

All well done, and am impressed by that buttercream cake :D
I love them all, but the Punisher cake looks like a black and white comic panel. Beautiful art!
Good thing I didn't DC during the loading of these images, or they'd be broken.
I'm hesitant to see Deadpool because I'm not sure how interesting it is to have the lead in a full mask. Is it a girl thing or a theatre geek thing that I want to see emotion on the actor's face? Is the movie nothing but ADR'd quips?
So Whipped Up by Mimi made the "Punisher" cake. hmmm...
@Sheila, Wade spends a good chunk of time outside the mask as well, and they did add a little animation to make the mask as expressive as it is in the comics. With his running commentary (all the lovely 4th wall breaking you expect), that helps a lot, and Reynolds does a lot with body language and his voice. In fact, one of the biggest emotional moments--and joke!-- has to do with the masks Deadpool wears; there's a reason he wears full covering suits, after all. I was worried too, that as much as I like Marvel and Deadpool both, I'm not a fan of stupid humor or crassness for its own sake, but in this film it works.
Also I really wanna -wear- that Agent Carter hat, it doesn't look like cake!
Amazing! I'd hate to cut into some of these, though!
That last cake! Incredible creativity! And I love the combo universes!
I need that Ghost Rider cake! Amazing!
Before I started scrolling through this post, I was thinking, "There better be an Agent Carter cake in here, and if there isn't, somebody needs to make one, STAT." So, naturally, I was beyond thrilled at the Peggy-hat cake. :)
Peggy's hat! Thank you. That is all.
So lovely, all of them. I really can't pick a favorite.
Deadpool is a must see. I haven't laughed that much in a very long time. Enjoyed it from the opening credits to the closing ones.
Awesome Sunday cakes - as always!
IN FREAKING OUT (HELP ME) EEK THEY LOOK AWSOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where are the Loki-themed cakes? I DEMAND A LOKI-THEMED CAKE!
@Sheila I'm a woman who has never read comic books, but have been very much enjoying the super hero movies. And I HIGHLY recommend Deadpool - provided you're not a young child. It is rated R for graphic violence, sexual content and foul language. And it is HILARIOUS! There was a part that I was laughing so hard I could hardly breath. It's really fun. And my parents enjoyed it as well. So did my non-comic book reading wife. For reference I'm in my early 30's. And I apologize to everyone for turning this into a Deadpool pat on the back. Go cake!
