What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Defective Communication Month

It's Effective Communication Month!
Which is an excellent excuse to share these:

Dina asked for a "brown lawyer gavel" with "Good luck, Ms. Haile!"

How now, brown lawyer?

They explained the birthday boy's name was "Marc, with a C."

Sounds fishy.

And I think you can probably puzzle this one out on your own:

There are no words.

And yet, there are.

Thanks to Dina G., Manda L., & Anony M., who just needs some space, bakers.

The message on the last cake IS enough to make a technicoloured sperm's tail curl.

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterShirley Fowley

(P.S., lawyers don't use gavels. Judges do)

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterShirley Fowley

I dunno. I found these cakes kind of poetic.

Brown Lawyer's gavel
Gave Ms. Haile nothing but "luck"
I'd like to meet him

Our grief overwhelms
Dear Mark is now with the sea
I have nowriting

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterSuBee

Words fail me..... :/

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

To be fair, I don't know what a lawyer gavel is, either. Judges have gavels. I've never seen a lawyer carrying one around. But, there's little defense in that. (See what I did there?)

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterMinda

On cake #2
♪"By the "C", By the "C" By the Beautiful "C"♪
At least they didn't spelled it "MARCK" or. "MARKC"!

*headdesk*

This reminds me of the "telephone" game, where someone whispers a phrase into your ear, and you whisper it to the person next to you, and by the end it's an unrecognizable mess. Except in these cases, it took only one "whisper" to get to the mess.

Mark by the sea. With carrots. All we need is the baby jockeys. SMH....I have nouriting else to say.

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterTLC

Thanks to this site, every time I see frosting carrots on a cake I think it needs to have a naked baby carrot jockey! It would make that second cake just perfect!

I do hope Mark is having a wonderful "Brithday" by the sea ...

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterDebbi

No need to mention the happy "brithday" that Marc with the Sea is having, I suppose. :)

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterEs

No comment about Marc's 'brithday??'

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterJoJo

"Nouriting"?!?!?!? Maybe Lewis Carroll could explain that one.

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAthena

@Bigg3469: Perfect! (Now, how do I get that song back OUT of my head?)
About the first one...that big cookie thingy...for "Brown lawyer...."etc.??? Well, the way that *sounded* in my head (watch it, there), all I could "hear" was "gave good luck, LONG time" Surely (don't call me Shirley) someone can reference that "almost-quote"...? =^-.-^=

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered Commentersendingtheclowns

I definitely see "Nouniting" on that last cake. I spent ages trying to puzzle out what it could possibly be meant to say until SuBee's comment made "no writing" clear. Well, clearer than it was to the wreckorator, anyway!

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterJaynie

Just wanting to say I appreciate SuBee's effective communication through haiku today.

What a coincidence! I'm Erica With Asea!

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterErica

So if I get in trouble (not saying I will!) and request a brown lawyer for luck, is that racist? ( and pu-lease don't anybody get upset- my daughter-in-law, a brown nurse, gave me a thumb-up)(Oh!What would THAT cake turn out like?)

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered Commenters.marie

Pretty sure that first one came out of a fortune cookie.

Brown lawyer gave good luck.
Lucky numbers are 12nd, 1th, 22th, and 3st.

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterLuLu

to be fair it's a judge that uses a gavel. ( that I misread as gravel which made even less sense)

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterLola Lloyd

In Welsh 'brith' meands speckled, mottled, abundant, numerous, distant, dubious, faint, vague or shady. In Hebrew it's something that makes a baby boy's eighth day of life a very unhappy day indeed.

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterTachybaptus

I think just 'gavel' would have been sufficient, no? Is there any other kind? *googling* Apparently,k there is. A stone mason's gavel or mallet looks much different.

On a second note, at least Brownlawyer gave good luck. That is definitely an 'L' there. Could have been so much better, erm, worse. I meant worse. ; - )

On cake #2, the wreckerator was so distracted by the implied threat s/he was writing, s/he misspelled birthday. I wonder if the guy ordering the cake was named Paulie...

While reading the last cake, I could see what appeared to be an ice cream cone out of the corner of my eye. After I deciphered 'Nouriting', I focused on the 'ice cream cone'. Eh. It looks much better out of focus. *sigh*

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterJust Andrea

I thought the last one said "nourthing"!

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterChicago

happy brithday too!

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRen

If you say "no writing" low and quick, it sounds like 'nouriting'.

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRaven

What ice cream cone? Those are technicoloured sperm cringing at the cake's message.

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterShirley Fowley

You guys remember saved by the bell?

"happy wrong number by the sea".

IN this case, the baker was simply doing his/her job.

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterjoyce

Hey, @Raven: You said: " If you say "no writing" low and quick, it sounds like 'nouriting' ". I tried it! And guess what? Guess I didn't quite think it out first...and I probably shouldn't have done it out in public--all the weird looks!! ;-p

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered Commentersendingtheclowns

I'm so happy having found out that I'm "Kathrin without age"

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterkatrin

Brown Lawyer would have made a good exploitation flick in the 70s, but you couldn't get away with it now.

Brithday? I guess that means Mark with the Sea is Jewish. I wonder if he knows Phteven.

June 11, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterpikkewyntjie

That second one even spelled "Birthday" wrong... at no extra charge!

Lmao. Oh geez. Can't get birthday spelled right let alone poor Marc's name lol. Oh the tears and laughter here tonight.

June 12, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

Just found out I'm "Kathrin without age"

June 12, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterKatrin

@Goofy Nancy: That's IT!!! I couldn't recall it for the life of me! Yay--I wish I had a prize to give you!
Thanks! And I don't think you're goofy at all. (But we just met...) =^~.~^=
