Sunday Sweets Goes Shabby Chic

Hold on to your vintage tea towels, my friends, 'cuz today we're celebrating all things Shabby Chic!
(By Galia)
Vintage lace, sweet pastels, and tightly packed ruffles? YES, PLEASE.
And the perfect accent for all those creamy flounces and lace trim is, of course, chocolate.
(Spotted here at the OK Sugar Art Show, baker unknown. Help?)
Mmmmm.
Shabby chic has its glitzy side, too. Check out these gorgeous gilded edges:

WOW. Reminds me of the delicate little teacups at a garden party.
Want something more minimalist? Then how about this vintage jewelry-inspired loveliness:

Talk about a fairy tale ending! I think I'm in love.
And from silver to gold:
That texture is fantastic: rustic, but oh-so-elegant.
Speaking of rustic, how perfect are the bleached "wood" tiers on this lilac cake?
Look how the planks overlap on the bottom tier, too; such a clever design.
Here's one of my favorites books as a kid, The Secret Garden, with a shabby chic twist!

D'aww, look at her sweet little leggings! And the key, and the hanging wisteria, and that too-good-to-be-true lace ruffle. IT'S ALL SO PERFECT.
Speaking of lace, you're never going to believe this next one is edible. NEVER.

That is hand-piped, y'all. As in, BY HAND. Color me astounded.
And finally, since Shabby Chic is mostly known for its furniture, here's a perfectly Sweet example:

The picture frame! The teddy bear! And those faaabulous dresser legs!
Yep, not too shabby.
(Can you believe I waited this long to make that pun? My self-control is improving, you guys.)
Happy Sunday, everyone!

These are gorgeous! Bravo!
On cake #4 is that a jeweled frog climbing over the top of the cake? (We're viewing it from the back left quarter.)
I'm just going to sit here and stare at that lace cake all day. Hope you don't mind.
Fantastic!
And I can't wait for the lace cake to turn up on Cake Wrecks as a bride's cake... Mwahahahaha!
SSOMR75: I came here to ask the same thing! I'd have never thought I'd find a frog on a cake charming & beautiful.
ssomr75: It sure looks like one to me! I was too busy peeking through the keyhole, and didn't even notice it!!
HAND-PIPED????? Omigosh, that is way impressive!
Cake #4 - yes, that looks like a camouflaged frog, and it's so realistic looking that it makes me want to go stand on a chair to get away from it.
At the risk of being the object of complete ridicule for my ignorance, I had never heard of the term "shabby chic" before reading this.
But I have decided that I like it a lot, if that makes it any better :)
sigh. smile. dream. repeat. so lovely.
Yeah, NOT diggin the jeweled, glittery frog crawling up the jewelry box cake.
I am totally in awe of whoever piped that lace!
Just a sigh of contentment as an afternoon is wasted dreaming.
@Becca, we all learn everything for the first time some time. Welcome to the fabulous world of shabby chic!
It takes a lot of skill to make shabby chic. Not for the amateur!
In the last picture, is the photo in the frame edible? I see where the frame is, but is the photo? If so, very impressive.
Beautiful hand piping!! What skill!!
That frog is gorgeous, but it sent me about halfway in to the uncanny valley.
