Think Big Bakery doesn't read this blog? WELL THEY DO. Proof: they've finally agreed with me that most bakers can't even pipe a simple balloon, and have started providing plastic ones instead.
But don't you worry, guys: where there's a wreckerator, there's a wreck:

Suzanne assures me this is exactly how her "Easter Bread" looked straight out of the package. I don't know what they were going for - besides the obvious - but it certainly rose to the occasion, no matter how you slice it. (Maybe a cross? Thor's hammer? A bug-eyed, one-eared bunny? [....and now that's ALL you see. Ha!])
Note how I resisted making any egg jokes, you guys. NOTE IT.

Well, CW reader David got a big kick out of it, and put in a request with his friends. But then, "they went one better," he says, "and had an even awesomer one made for my birthday."

On #4 that bread looks like the perfect symbol for the Pagan Goddess Ēostre the Pagan Goddess of Reproduction and Rebirth and hence how we got the name "Easter" from.
Um, at least they got Ohio State's color right!

Heh. Given that Easter has its roots in springtime/fertility celebrations, that Easter Bread is actually quite appropriate. Maybe the baker who packed it is a Wiccan or other neo-Pagan?

Oh, TLC. You know what they were supposed to be...
On second thought, perhaps the photo is upside down and the round things are ovaries and the longish part a poor attempt at a uterus (there simply wasn't enough room on the cake board for fallopian tubes.) Either way, that's one poorly conceived staff of life.
The Easter bread is supposed to be in the shape of a cross! Eep.

So no one heard the muncher opening the container to nibble the cake corner? Those plastic nightmares are so loud, I am surprised security wasn't called before the person finished swallowing. And it is a testament to their bakery that more of it wasn't eaten. I am just sayin'.
I was quite relieved when I scrolled to the Barney cross-dressing cake. The cropped pic on Facebook lead me to think it was another baby shower cake with a dinosaur popping out from under mom's pink dress. Say... that's an idea!! Anyone having a baby shower soon?
I might need to be friends with Dave's friends. Epic!

Oh, how humiliating for those last two. I have a 14" jointed Godzilla on my mantelpiece. He's fiercely naked, and I wouldn't dream of putting clothes on him, but I did wire a pink silk hydrangea to the fingers of one hand/claw. As for the "happy bread twist": eggs aren't supposed to..er.. come with those....=^-.-^=

I found myself curiously NEEDING Godzilla's nails to be painted pink or lavender to match the dress!

@Bigg3469: Indeed, totally could have fit right into Spring fertility rituals, the name my clan uses is Ostara, but it is the same deity/ anthropomorphic representation of the rebirth that Spring brings.

And I cannot tell you how many people posted the Godzilla Princess cake to my wall. Seriously, I lost count. It was pretty awesome. And I'm pretty sure that's what I'll be having for my next birthday.

So, no one has commented on that LOVELY balloon cake yet. When I first saw it, I thought, "Hmmm....poop. No wait...it's a snail!" Wrong on both counts.

Pretty sure that bread is supposed to be some sort of Easter/Passover*/Ostara crossover. Pretty sure.
The hilarious thing is that Passover specifically forbids challah and all wheat products for 8 days. Except for the side rolls and the eggs and the sprinkles, the braided bread is pretty similar to a challah.

That looks like a little more than a *bite* into crime; very nearly a slice of crime. Now we know why there's a half finished quart of milk in the dairy isle.
Bakeries should decide to go with free-range balloons. It would be safer for their wreck receiving customers (wreck-tomers, for short). ; - D

I foresee a dinos and monsters in dresses themed Sunday Sweets in the near future. My favorite of these two has to be the Godzilla, because his fierceness makes the princess dress all the more ridiculous.
Hey, that braided bread with Easter eggs baked right into it (yes, those are real Easter eggs) is actually an old European tradition from I forget exactly where. The sprinkles...not so much. (Ew.)
The Easter Bread is a tradition from the Orthodox Church - father in law is Greek Orthodox, and no, the sprinkles aren't normal.
Tomorrow is Orthodox Easter Sunday, thus, the crazy bread. Someone got the cross piece a bit low... I shared this on Facebook with a friend who got a huge kick out of the "risen" bread.
Christos Anesti is Greek for "He is risen." Alitos Anesti is basically, "Indeed, He is risen."
So has the bread, which seems to have been mixed up with a King Cake! 8)
For those of us who get both Western and Orthodox Easter, it's serious food party time.

That "Easter Bread" obviously hearkens back to the origins of the holiday, when it was a pagan fertility celebration. (What could possibly be more fertility affirming than an obvious phallic symbol, other than appearing with symbols representing 'ladybits'. The name "Easter" even comes from the name of a fertility goddess, "Eostre". BTW, "Estrus" comes from the same name.
The Godzilla and T-rex cakes are just cute. Other than the subject matter being a little odd, but endearingly so, I don't think that either of those really qualifies as a wreck. They're both at least passably well executed. Given that the term "bridezilla" exists (and for good reasons), I'd be surprised if nobody has done a wedding cake along similar lines. (Wreckish or otherwise.)
