Sunday Sweets Gets OVER DRAMATIC

There's a place for casual elegance, but sometimes you want something a little more... elaborate. Something bold, something over-the-top. Something that grabs your eyeballs by the collar and slaps 'em around a bit - in a good way.
You know, like this:

BOOYAH.
So good.
You want sparkles?
We've got sparkles:

Booyah AGAIN.
Think you need a big cake to make a big statement? Think again:

This little gem packs a pretty punch!
It doesn't get more classic than black, white, and lipstick red:
(By Very Unique Cakes)
Or, for that matter, black, white, and gold:
(By MILA)
Here's the same color palette with a little more joie de vivre:
(By JT Cakes)
Ahhh, Paris. Where even the streetlights cast little heart shadows. (So cute!)
I just realized most of these have been on the dark side so far - but believe me, you don't need any color at all to make jaws drop:
This drama queen is a vision in ruffles!
Or how about this snow white wonder:
(By Bobette and Belle)
That hand-piped lace is blowing my mind.
Now add a bold pop of red swirly flowers:
(By Made With Love)
And don't forget a little a lot of bling!
And one final statement piece proves that not all that glitters is gold:
(By Fine Cakes by Zehra)
Sometimes it's silver.
:D
Happy Sunday, everyone!

OMG some of those are just too pretty to eat :D
WOW! And that last one was a three-for-one picture. It looks like someone had a "Great Gatsby" wedding. ...but without the deaths...??!!
Those are fantastic! Such creativity and skills and imagination! Thanks so much for sharing that.
My heart is LITERALLY going pit-a-pit-a-pitapitapita-pat!
The roses one was my favorite, of course! But I loved all the ones with ruffly layers too.
All of them are gorgeous, but the last one is the best! AND it looks as if there are more similar cakes present! There are even cupcakes, which surely can be tolerated if they are being honest about themselves and not disguising themselves as real cakes.
I'm gobsmacked!
Now if my eyes could just STOP mis-seeing things wrong...
The last cake. The next-to-bottom tier (or, if you prefer, the third from the top). The central ornament.
Please tell me I'm the only one who sees a waiter in ruffled shirt and bow tie who's just put on a hockey mask and is about to attack us with whatever he's holding over his head.
(Okay, it MIGHT not a hockey mask; it might be Rorshach's mask, or Deadpool's bare face. You never know.)
I'm a fool for the little hot pink and black number. Simply elegant. And the white piped lace cake is amazing too.
Not sure I'm a fan of bling on my food though.
So pretty! On the black and gold with the ruffles -- did they torch the edges? Like creme brulee? Gorgeous, and probably tastes good, too.
Nonie, I saw it, too. So at least there are 2 of us.
I thought the last one was a tombstone.
Amazing! The talent in those cakes is awesome.
I keep myself focused by realizing that someone will take a picture of one of those to their local Wreckerator and be told, "Yeah, we can do that. No problem."
I absolutely love (By Cakes Decor member Beth)
This drama queen is a vision in ruffles! The first all white cake. It is truly an artist at work with this one.
I love the tiny one! Sundays are the best days on this site, it renews my faith in humanity
Nonie, now that I've seen The Waiter in that last cake, I can't unsee him!
My favourite is the second one. It looks for all the world like they've used actual vintage jewellery on it!
I just couldn't bring myself to cut into the first cake. I'd have to find a way of preserving it forever and putting it on display, even if it gave off a creepy Miss Havisham vibe.
Nonie, I didn't see it at first, but after reading your comment, I saw the murderous waiter clear as day.
What I saw at first glance was the ornament on the top tier of the last cake.
It looks like an penguin with scruffy feathers on top of its head that is wearing goggles.
Looks to me like that fifth cake is blue & black... how are you seeing white & gold?
I guess I'm in the minority but these "cakes" do not look appetizing to me at all. They all look like they are made of plastic. And fondant tastes like that paste kids used to eat in first grade. Give me a traditional cake with buttercream frosting any day!
I actually had to go look it up, and they DO make edible jewels from sugar! Incredible.
