Sunday Sweets: Jen's Happy Cakes

I am forever hunting down the best cakes for Sunday Sweets, but a lot of my favorites just don't fit any particular theme; they just plain make me happy. So today, no theme; just Happy Jen Cakes!

Love the jewelry-like border, the glitzy gold leaf, and the subtle ombré fade in the middle tier. But mostly? I love that teal.
And over on the other side of the color wheel:

Orangey goodness! I think the hexagons are tinted sugar glass, which is perfect with the clear lucite base.
Is it a coincidence that the first two cakes today happen to be my two favorite colors? NO IT IS NOT.
But I promise to branch out from more than just teal and orange. At least a little.

This is one of those rare cakes that I could frame and stare at all day long. That shading in the stripes and flowers gives it this gorgeous sense of depth - so, so good.
This dreamy pastel number is is downright heavenly with its floating flowers:

And that watercolor fade? Awesome sauce.
Not sure which I like more on this one: the mosaics or that patchwork bow:

Ah, but I'm also a sucker for drama, so...
BAM.
Love how the black makes those floral swags pop - and who doesn't love teensy polka dots?
This famous landmarks cake has a fun graphic arts feel:

Check out the little heart carved in the Eiffel Tower!
Sometimes I find little one-tier cakes especially delightful:

Robin's egg blue and rich red is another of my favorite color combos - plus look at all that delicate hand-piping! Perfection!
Here's another one-tier cutie, guaranteed to make you grin:

D'awww, puppy love at first sight!
And finally, let's wrap up this shiny happy cakes post with one last burst of color and a perfect yellow bow:

The Mosaic cake is ade by Tom Poes taarten from Holland!
The mosaic cake with the patchwork bow is mine!!!!! very happy surprised to so my cake here, thank you!
The landmarks cake makes me think of It's a Small World at Disneyland
Those make me happy, too. Thanks for sharing Jen.
I want to see the other two sides of the landmarks cake! Even though they could be blank, I'm envisioning other sweet marvels, such as: the Great Peppermint Pyramids, Saint Basil's Buttercream Cathedral, and maybe the Golden Grahamcracker Gate Bridge! Scenic Yummarks! =^~.~^=
I always look forward to Sunday Sweets - and this one is excellent! (Had a browser burp, so hope this doesn't post twice.)
I've followed your blog for quite a while, but have never posted. I really like the random Sunday cake idea -- these cakes are all beautiful. You do a great job with your blogs, and I admire your courage to put yourself out there.
Who could eat that puppy? :)
The orange one from Cake Alchemy is sugar. The lady who owns it is a sugar blowing goddess.
The last cake in this series is a quilt pattern called "cathedral windows" and it is as beautiful as any quilt could hope to be. Much thanks for posting!
The puppy cake made me laugh I got so happy. Thanks, Jen. Working on taxes today and needed some happy!
Yes, those hexagons have to be tinted sugar glass. Cake Alchemy is widely celebrated for their sugar glass work. Especially blown sugar globes! Gorgeous stuff.
Mission accomplished. Totally grinning; thank you!
OMG, I LOVE that georgous hexagon cake. I would totally have a hard time cutting it up.(but I would cause it's cave and therefore I must eat it. NOMZ) this Sunday sweets was really cool!!!!
All of them so, so beautiful! Thank you, Jen, excellent post!
Thank you! These made me happy, too!
My favorite is the hexagon cake; although the little dog is awfully cute.
Cue up the songs "Make Someone Happy" (Jimmy Durante version) and "Happy" by Pharrrell Williams
Black with floral swag was my favorite by far, but there was something about the simplicity of the hexagons that made me love it. Cake kaleidoscope! lol. XD
I was in a down mood this evening as I came to see the Sunday Sweets. Happy cakes was just what I needed. When I read about the next cake guaranteed to make you grin, I thought that's a strong statement. It certainly won't make me grin. Then I scrolled down. That puppy face most certainly did make me grin and then chuckle at myself for being in such a foul mood. So thank you for what you do.
Once again, Jen, you hit it out of the park. Really, REALLY gorgeous stuff. I would be loath to even think about cutting into one of them. Actually, I don't think I would know HOW! I think I would end up setting it on a shelf and just admiring it lovingly until it finally began to change colors and grow little green fuzzies. And it would still make me happy :-D
Ooo, so pretty! Definitely made me smile. =-)
#8: I want a cupcake cake from MyCupcakery! Now!!!
Heart in the Eiffel Tower; nicely played after recent world events...
Lovely, but I'd like to see more fondant free cakes.
yesterday was my birthday, and i would have LOVED that orange hexagon cake!!
The first cake reminds me of a more elegant beachy wedding...but the second with the sugar glass hexagons blew me away! That is true art.
Winners all, and I echo sendingtheclowns in wishing we could see the other side of the landmarks cake.
One small quibble: that first one looks more turquoise than teal to me, but it's fine work either way.
I especially love how the black one looks almost like the polka dotted bit came out of the rest, like a lovely expansion of it somehow. It's really neat and now that I've seen it, I can't unsee it (which is fine by me). They're all so pretty!
These are astounding! They also show me how rudimentary my own "art" is. I cannot even imagine attempting to replicate any of these, even after I have some year's experience.
