Sunday Sweets Just Wants To Bang On The Drum All Day

It's your weekend, everybody!
That's right, whether you're a nurse:
(By High Five Cakes)
Or an orchestra conductor:
(By Sweetfix)
Or a photographer:
Whether you build houses:
(By Confetti Cakes)
Or burritos:
(By Wuollet Bakery)
Or cakes!
(That sometimes *look* like burritos.)
Or if you spend your days in front of a computer:
Your own children:
(By Debbie Brown)
Or a cash register:
(By Marina Danovska)
Thanks for doing what you do.
Now, go take a break, why don't you? You've earned it.

So beautiful! I love Sunday Sweets!!
are all of those 100% cake?! WOW (I mean that in a wow-I-never-thought-cakes-could-look-so-realistic kind of way). (by the way, I think you should feature Croquembouche Sunday sweets, because if you buy one from a professional french baker, it will definitely look beautiful (unless, of course you want it to look ugly, in which case, you falsify the evidence).
Love love love that old-fashioned cash register! Brilliant!!
PS - Jen, hope you and John had a happy anniversary!
Wow, my breath sort of caught when I read "Or your own children" - I am a stay at home mom and have had a rough week with acceptance. Another mom at school gave me a hard time this week, quizzing me about my "free time" and what I do with it, and a dude at the grocery store used the "What do you DO all day?" question on me. Went to a party with my husband a couple of weeks ago and felt like I was invisible - people would ask what I do for a living and then it was like I vanished, or they assumed I am an idiot. So to see you so easily throw stay-at-home-motherhood into your list of occupations today made my heart swell just a tad. Thanks so much! I know it's a little thing, but it meant a lot.
Oooo, is that a good use of sprinkles I see? - go burrito baker!
OMG those look so real :O love REAL cake artists
The conductor's hands -- amazing! The camera would be perfect if it were a Nikon. ;-)
I get a break from professional work this weekend, but have lots of "homeowner" work to do. Repairing storm damage in my bedroom ceiling. Drywalling can be such fun!
That burrito cake would seriously mess with my mind if I ate it. Expecting savory, tasting sweet-- mind blown. These are all great!
wow. just wow.
Thanks for remembering parents! (No break for us, though!) Also, remember all those who don't get Labor Day off like nurses, first responders, and pretty much anyone working in retail, food service, and hospitality. Be kind and maybe offer them some cake! :)
Beautiful cakes. I am in awe!
And Verity, I am in awe of stay at home Moms! My Mom raised 5 kids and worked harder than anyone who had a job outside the home. You work 24/7, not just 40 hours a week. You go girl!
What about a teacher? ?? These are all amazing though.
Sad that most every profession on here has to work every weekend. And will undoubtedly be laboring for Labor Day.
My jaw literally dropped at the burrito cake. I am in awe.
@TLC: I use a Nikon too. :)
To the SAHM: Ignore the idiots that ask what you do. You are not invisible to your family. Others don't matter. Your job is one of the hardest and most rewarding in the world.
The babies kind of creep me out.
To all Moms who feel invisible...you do the most important job in your child's life. Don't underestimate how important you are. I know Dentists who like and say they are tennis coaches to avoid 'mouth talk' so everyone has their sensitivities. You could say you're an internet writer because you have been published (here) that should make them ask you all sorts of things about what you do.
Unbelievable, especially the Victorian home and the laptop. Very nice.
That cash register cake is beyond gorgeous. Perfection, actually! Love them all, but that one is by far the most beautiful.
As a nanny, I'm in awe of stay-at-home parents. I get to go home at the end of the day, veg out, and sleep solidly before tackling the next day.
It is rather unfortunate that Labor Day doesn't apply to everyone. I understand the need for hospitals to stay open and such, but retail and food service workers should really get the day off.
Except that those of use who run cash registers will still be doing so on Labor Day. When you work in retail you are their bitch.
Wuollet's made our wedding cake. This came out a lot better than our wedding cake for sure! I submitted our cake for a wreck, hahaha!
@Verity: HUGS!!!! I'm another SAHM, though with two small part-time jobs - mostly to keep sane!
It was really nice to see so many beautiful cakes. But the cash register wins my vote for most original, life-like, and just beautiful.
Best disembodied hands I've ever seen on a cake, hands down...or maybe up in this case. I guess Thing found a friend - high five!
That burrito cake looks yummy!
¡¡FIESTA!!
Suddenly craving Freebird's (World Burrito)...and cake. Definitely cake.
So I don't normally read the comments because there are usually just *so* many and while I enjoy how witty the CW readers are, I just find it overwhelming to read comments. Anyway, today I decided to read the comments on just this one post. I don't know why. I've already seen the post and enjoyed looking at all these gorgeous cakes several days ago. I came here and read anyway.
Anyway, today was a terrible day. It's been a terrible few months for me. I"m a stay at home mom and I'm having an identity crisis of sorts. To read this many strangers' comments about the importance of mothers? It was exactly what I needed. Everyone is so lovely and encouraging and uplifting. I love the CW (and Epbot) community, even when I'm normally a lurker. :) Thank you, everyone.
