Draw Your OWN Conclusions

Ever get the feeling bakers are doing this on purpose?
Like, they know exactly what we're asking for; they just don't feel like drawing today.
It's a tempting theory, I know...
...except for all the times when it's actually MORE work to get it wrong:
*facepalm*

Sung to "Firework"
'Cause Baker, you wrote "fireworks"
And "Smiley Face" for what it's worth
You could have used "plus," "times," "zero"
Your liberties leave me in awe.
Baker, you wrote "fireworks..."
I LOVE the ...with a math symbol on it! Oooooooookaaaay, <shouting> a math symbol on it!!! Nope, it STILL makes no sense. Obviously the baker with full artistic liberty has no clue what the words artistic or liberty imply...
Oh and seeee!!!!!!!!!! SOME wreckerators DO know how to spell....maybe they should buy a clue instead of a vowel....
I just have to say "snarky comment."
song parody
Insert joke here.
Is the last one truly a wreck if they were given "full artistic liberty" and decided THAT was what they wanted to do?
Looking at those, yes, I think they're onto you, Jen. Maybe they are just big fans and want to contribute?
Full artistic liberty..snerk. Although if anyone gives that to the baker, they almost, almost deserve them writing that. Technically...they did just that!
Hee, way to save time today SuBee!
In the "if you can't say anything nice..." vein of thought: at least they spelled everything correctly!
Forgot to mention that the first one took me a little while to grasp. I thought it was a wreck celebrating both someone's birthday AND the fourth of July!
ROTFL!!! That last one --- oh, that's priceless!
Seriously -- I hope no one PAID for that cake.
That last one...be grateful the wreckorator didn't excercise that full artistic liberty. The colour combination is bad enough as it is.
Oh man. Full artistic liberty. I'm still chuckling into my tea over that one. Classic.
@miss_paper : Well, well. The baker took the advice about "full artistic liberty" a bit… literally.
(Insert "Batman Begins" joke here.)
@Vbeach alemap.... They didn't "surivive" math class... And do the customers buy these awful things??? I would, just for the chance to send it in and see it here... ;)
Ahh Sharyn and suebee I can always count on you guys for the giggles XD as for your theory i agree-those cannot all be mistakes I refuse to believe that...
but . . . . everything is spelled correctly, that must count for something, right ? ! ? HAHAHAHAHA
Cake no. 2: They spent all that time making the circle and beautiful flowers. But couldn't make a rainbow and smiley faces. Desk, meet head.
Actually, I'm with the previous poster who says that these bakers are on to you guys now.
Look at the beautiful piping and flowers. The only thing wrong with the cake is the saying inscribed on it....yet even that is done beautifully.
(cue my inner Scooby Doo) ruh-roh
The spelling was fine, except for a dotted v on survived. They didn't actually put an extra i in there, just a dot over the v. Maybe they can count that dot as a mathematical symbol. It's stillbjust one, and they need at least one more. Any ideas.
I'm a cake decorator, and I work at a grocery store, and sometimes I'm temped to write on cakes like this just for the fun of it but I always wonder about the common sense some decorators have. But just in case we tell people when they take orders to make sure the deco goes in the spot for the deco instructions and the writing goes in the spot for the writing wanted on the cake.
I had a co-worker who would do this stuff on purpose. Or she would make the entire cake including writing white. She got a lot of complaints.
Oh, so true, MarkinSF - it isn't a dot, it is a circle!
@SuBee - I'm going to order a cake with your comments.
Guess well have to draw pictures of what we want
**sigh** I think they want to add "Featured on Cake Wrecks!" to their resume.
@mel ~ You're still groovy to me ;-)
I keep thinking no one would actually do stuff like this, yet here's the photographic evidence.
"We have full artistic liberty" blew my mind. It's like the inception of irony. But inside-out.
Da da! Dada. Hilarious and freed me from years of lurking to comment. Free the wreckerators!
Lmao! Oh man I can't believe what wreckerators can come up with..then again I am always amazed that these make it to the customer. Wow.
I'm calling shenanigans on the last one . Compare it with the masterpiece on the cover of the Cake Wrecks book - it's a tribute, not a genuine wreck!
My mum's been staying for the last month. When I saw the last cake, I laughed out loud and she looked up, saw me at the computer and said "Oh, it's a cake!" and hurried over. We have a new cakewrecks addict!
Cakes like these make me wonder, is it just the infinite variety of human stupidity that Einstein talked about, or is it a flaw in the cake order forms? What does the least-flawed cake order form look like? Can Cakewrecks teach us how to order cakes that come out fit-to-serve-Aunt-Jen even when the decorator is a bored highschool dropout who hates cakes, spelling and customers?
Great wrecks.
I look at Cakewrecks every day. I love looking at the good and the bad. Some laughable cakes. You should see some of the order forms these people fill out. I work for the company that the rainbow, smiley faces cake came from. ( this cake is not from not my particular store) But the order forms are simple, Flavor, design, writing on cake, name, date, phone and time. It is not rocket science. So who ever filled out the for could have picked that floral design and where it said "writing on cake" put rainbow, smiley faces.. Believe me it happens ALL the time. This is why we make them fill out the form, so we don't get blamed for their stupidity. I wish I could post some of the forms. We joke all the time at work about them... So please don't be so quick to judge the decorator.
I love cakewrecks this time of year. My son was born on the fourth of July and I really can't wait until he's an adult and I can embarrass him with wang cake.
Also I managed a Things Remembered store for years (a store that does nothing but engraving) and we managed to fill out our order forms in a manner that was easily understood by all, spelled correctly AND resulted in a generally VERY expensive item being engraved. If we'd have screwed up any where near as much as these decorators do we'd have been out on our bums.
