Sunday Sweets: A Disney Movie Marathon, Part 2

Sunday Sweets is our weekly NON-Wrecks feature, the better to remind you how wrecky the Wrecks are.
Ok, Easter's over, so let's get back to our classic Disney movie marathon!
(By Christian Giardina)
It's Bambi's mom! Ack! All the feels.
Disney sure knows how to play the mom card. Remember that scene in Dumbo? o.0 But don't worry; this Dumbo cake is nothing but happy:
Gotta love those bright circus colors.
I spy some hand-painting on this Pocahontas cake:
...but whether they used all the colors of the wind is up for debate. ;)
Here's one from John's favorite:
(By Mary Fairy Cakes)
Lady and the Tramp!
With so many big sculpted cakes out there, it's nice to see such a brilliant 2D design for single tiers. Check out the ruffles on the table cloth, the texture of their fur, and the spaghetti noodles! Plus the cake has Lady's collar wrapped around the outside edge. GENIUS.
We've devoted entire posts to Alice in Wonderland before, because it has inspired SO MANY amazing cakes. And here's one more:
(By CW reader Christie Jackson)
Look at all the detail! From the dormouse to the card doing a backflip to Alice stuck in the side "rabbit hole." Hee!
The Jungle Book still has some of Disney's best songs - so let's all hum "The Bear Necessities" while we look at this next cake, k?
(By Wonder Cake)
Humhumhum, HUM HUM HUM ha HUMMM...
(That waterfall is stunning. And the palm trees! Look at the palm trees!)
I'm not sure I've ever seen Tick-Tock the croc look so happy:
Perhaps that floating hook has something to do with it. :D
Speaking of lovable villains, anyone remember Madame Mim?
(By MG Sugarcake)
She's from The Sword in the Stone, and looks pretty fabulous made out of sugar, don't you think?
I think we should call this one "Pinocchio's Birthday":
(By Arte de Ka)
What a cool concept! And so many details! I'm in awe of the tools, the wood shavings, and the gold detailing on the books spines.
I know we had a Wreck It Ralph cake last time, but these Sugar Rush Racers MUST BE SHARED:
(By Kidacity)
Squee!!
And finally, since Frozen fever is still going strong (The line to meet Anna & Elsa at WDW right now averages four hours. FOUR HOURS!) - I thought I'd end with two more Frozen treats, since I just can't decide between them:
(By Sonata Torte)
Check out that sugar sculpting!
And then there's this one, starring Olaf:
(By Danni's Cakes)
So much to love here, but that lacy snowflake airbrushing on the cake board really brings it to the next level of gorgeous. SO COOL. (pun intended)
Hope you guys enjoyed our extended movie marathon! And as always, if you'd like to see which bakers in your area have been featured here on Sweets, check out our Sunday Sweets Directory!

Um, why does Bambi have post-it notes stuck to his butt?
OMSQUEEE so cheery :D
Floating hook, my eye! Part of his arm is still attached! Either he is slowly sinking below his arm or that's all that's left after the croc ate him! And that Pinocchio's birthday cake! So detailed! Each of the tools has its own screw to "hang" on. Brilliant!
Pocahontas never lived in a teepee. Not even the horribly inaccurate Disney version of her.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I saw quite a few non-fondant cakes in today's Sunday Sweets.
YAY!!!!
Not all of us like to eat fondant (and yes, that affects even the sight of the cakes, because of course you can't help but think about eating them, right....RIGHT??) and personally, I think it takes more artistry to create a beautiful cake worthy of Sunday Sweets inclusion without the shortcut of fondant.
I will admit to wanting that first Frozen cake. Squee!
Did anyone else want to see Alice emerging from a "portal" on another layer of the Alice in Wonderland cake?
Just FYI, the Hebrew on the Jungle Book cake says mazal tov, congratulations. Gorgeous work on shaping the letters, too.
I so love Madame Mim. I quote her all of the time ("HORRIBLE WHOLESOME SUNSHINE!"). It's usually met with blank stares or generally confused looks. Glad to see her! :)
I think it's Emma Jane Cake Design in the UK that made the croc, x
Post-It Notes, my eye!
That's a teepee stuck right there.
All tall tales need one.
I absolutely love the Lady and the Tramp cake! Royal icing is so underused in cake decorating, so I love seeing someone use it to such great effect.
Thank you so much for sharing the Sweets every week. They restore my hope and give me something to strive towards. Love this site!
If you haven't yet seen it, may I recommend Tom Hiddleston singing Bear Necessities. His hip movements alone make the video!
These cakes are amazing!
The Marvelous Mad Madam Mim! I sometimes use that as a swear when there are kids around. :-)
The cakes are amazing, and yeah the line is definitely at least 4 hours most days. We waited 4 hours in February, it took longer than my running the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon. Anna and Elsa just moved to Magic Kingdom from Epcot though.
the Lady and the Tramp cake is just beautiful. The ruffles are amazing. I want it for my anniversary.
The cakes are amazing!!
And if you want to meet Anna and Elsa: Go to Disneyland - the line is only between two and three hours long ;-)
Ms Anthrope: NO, YOU WERE NOT ALONE. I actively searched the photo for that very thing LOL
}:)
These are all amazing cakes! Lady and the Tramp is unbelievable with the details done in icing.
As always, thanks for sharing the fabulous cakes with us on Sundays, Jen. It restores our faith in cakey humanity one day of the week ;) .
SQUEE! That's THE Wreck-It Ralph cake! :D
Thank you @Haiku_Joy for deftly addressing the general crankiness that seems to have seeped into the CW comment section today by gracing us with your charming poetry. Another win!
That Lady and the Tramp cake is fantastic. Those ruffles alone awed me, and then every place I looked there was more artistry.
My family and I toured the National Archives today, so thank you for pushing Schoolhouse Rock's "We the People" out of my head! Now how to remove "Bear Necessities?" Maybe we'll watch Frozen again.
I am amazed, as always! I LOVE Disney, and Sunday Sweets, so this is just extra special fun for me today!
I am also amazed that many of these beauties are for 3-year-olds!!!! THREE!?!?! And at least one was for a 1-yr-old! Do they even appreciate all this beauty and detail? And do those parents realize that they are setting a precedent for amazing cakes every year? lol
Someone should redesign the princess cake's castle towers. A must...
Perfect post for my birthday (I'm going to pretend you wrote it just for me)
Mad Madam Mim! I love Mim! How cool that someone thought of her!
The first Frozen cake's characters are disturbing. They just look weird.
Incredible talent! I love it.
The maverolous mad Madam Mim for the win! The Sword and the Stone was my favorite Disney movie when I was about 6 or 7. :-) They had VCRs then and I knew how to tape off the Disney Channel. My poor parents. :-D
That Bambi cake is to DIE for! I wonder if it tastes as good as it looks!
My 7-month-old daughter is named Miriam but when she was born her then-two-year-old brother said her name as "Mim" so that's what everyone calls her now. When she is cranky I sing her the "Mad Madam Mim" song. I was planning on doing a Princess theme for her first birthday, but now I reeeeeeeally want that Mim cake!!!!
wigwam wrong,
Do NOT talk about the "Baby Mine" scene in Dumbo. I will start bawling just thinking about it!
Those Frozen cakes makes me wanna squee with glee!!
Why do they always make these awesome cakes for very young children? Seriously, a 3-year-old? The kid will just smash it.
