What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sunday Sweets GOES SHOPPING!!

With everyone in a shopping frenzy this weekend, I figured hey, why not make it a FEEDING frenzy... of shopping! Only, you know, in cake.

(This, uh, sounded better in my head.)

So, let's say you're shopping for a sweet Vera Bradley purse:

(Submitted by Jon A., made by Hall's Take The Cake)

BAM! That's totally cake!

So you'll have to keep looking.
But still. Amazing, right?

Adults can be hard to buy for, but I love shopping for little kids:

Yes, cake! I think only the bottom rockers are real wood.

Pew pew!

And the most perfect iPod delivery system:

D'AWWWW.

Of course, we big kids like our toys, too:

It helps if the person you're buying for has a hobby, of course. Like baking. Or storing cooking utensils in fancy jewelry bags:

But it's hard to go wrong with a little bling for the ladies. Or a LOT of bling.

(By Yener's Way)

And don't let the fellas fool you; they like their bling, too:

Still, we all know the holidays are all about the GADGETS, am I right?

(By Sweet Jeelees)

Although I still refuse to recognize "phablet" as a word. I JUST WON'T DO IT.

Well, here's wishing you every shopping triumph this season, my friends. Oh, and remember to get something for everyone in the family, k?

:)

Happy Sunday!

(I also feel duty-bound to remind you that Wreck the Halls, my holiday book, makes a perfect stocking stuffer!)

Ugh 'phablet', we just call them 'hand computers' in my family.

Oh, all right; if no one else is going to say it...IS that giant "diamond " ring a CARAT cake? =^>.<^=

It's no use refusing to recognise words. They arrive anyway. The success of English as a world language is largely due to its lack of control, so that new words can get in easily.

No. I refuse to say 'phablet', and I growl when I hear someone else say it.
There's evolution of language, and then there's 'speech impediment'.

Get Out!! Those are CAKE???? Wow!! I'm super-impressed! Love, love, love the rocking horsey!

...am I the only one that hopes the bling cake is a carrot cake made with a ton of real carrots? (Say it out loud. You'll figure it out. )

I refuse to believe that Vera Bradley purse, the rocking horse, and the corgi are cake. Inconceivable! This is an early April Fool's, right? I bet you've put some fake ones in here to trick us. Because if not, I'm at a loss to describe how impressive these cakes are.

these are terrific but I couldn't not cut the puppy dog one much less eat it. Now the carat cake another matter.

Yes, because I always keep my BBQ baster in a Tiffany bag. Would love the story behind that one. :)

The wood grain on the horse, the details on the face of the watch, the stitching on the purse...wow wow wow.

"Phablet"? I count myself lucky that I had never heard that word before today...
