Sunday Sweets: Dad's Day

Dad, you work so hard the whole year through,
today, let's make it up to you!
... and settle in upon your throne.
(By Melanie of Ph.D.-Serts Cakes)
... today you can control the clicker!
And I pinky-promise I'll keep quiet,
(Submitted by Ty L., made by Paul's Creative Cakes)
... if you, say, "forget" your diet.
So have a cold one, or two, or three!
(Sub'd by Jamie M., made by Rouvelee's Creations - and yes, it's ALL edible!)
Then pop in your favorite DVD,
(By Robin of Gateaux Inc)
Just kidding! I mean, I washed your car!
I also organized your tools.
About that ...
uh, I hope we're cool.
So don't worry 'bout a single chore,
And while we're at it, tell me more
About your youth, and days of yore.
About that one amazing day:
(By Helen of cakejoy)
About the one that got away!
'Cuz Dad, I think you're super great.
Without you, life would be cut-rate.
But I hope you'll like this shirt and tie,
And know that you're my favorite guy.
So I guess that all there's left to say,
is have an awesome Father's Day!

OMG love the godfather/tequila one :D the beer one with the ice looks realistic :) the lawnmower one is soo cute :D
Awesome poem, Lindsey!
Incredible cakes this week!
These cakes are amazing, but I think the one with the Godfather video has a photoshopped look about it. The part that is in the close-up looks real, but shouldn't there be shadows on the Patron crate? Or did they darken the frosting to make the shadow under the bowl and it isn't really a shadow?
I'm not a Dad (or even a guy), and not a fan of cigars, but the Godfather IS one of my favorite movies, and I love popcorn...so save me a spot on that gold-limousine of a couch, and let's go!
Also~ Holy 70's, Batman! Give that cheesey (cheesy?/whatever) blue & white shirt back to my brother! (He really had one exactly like that.It WAS the style....eww.)
=^~.~^=
Hi, I think the remote control is attributed to the wrong sugar artists, you can read the watermark that says Melanie Judge, whose business is Ph, -D'Serts, fb page Mel's Cake Walk, and here is a link to the cake on her page : http://www.phdserts.com/celebration-cakes/
[Oops! Thanks, Julie! Just fixed it. - Jen]
Booiinnnng. That was my eyes falling out for the bucket of beer. Totally amazing.
Lindsey, the poem was as wonderful as these cakes. An extra helping for you today!
Well done, well done! Thanks for a great post! What every father wishes for....
I can't be the only person whose eyes pop out of their head every Sunday at seeing these amazing cakes, am I? That beer bottle one is STUNNING! And because my Dad is such a lover of mowing the lawn, I am immediately drawn to that one. :-)
I'm flattered that you think my cake was Photo Shopped, but I assure you it was photographed and not changed after the fact. They brought in special lighting for the party, so that may have affected the shadows. But the fact that people question the cake because it looks good makey the Evil Cake Genius very happy!! Thanks for all the great comments, and thank you, Jen, for sharing my work. It's an honor!
The shirt and tie one reminds me of Office Space. :-D

Marvelous cakes! I'm especially fond of the organize-the-tools one, with the sawdust where the saw was cutting into the cake.
I'm just squeeing at the lace pattern on the blanket on that first cake. Someday I'll be able to knit that!
WOW!! I'd love to find out how they made that beer cake so realistic! It's INCREDIBLE! The other's are top-notch too! :-D
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the DADS who come to CW for the laffs! It doesn't matter if you come by Daddyhood biologically, by adoption, or by marriage. Your love and hard work really MATTERS to your children! :-)
The remote control and the bucket of beer... No way those are cakes!!! Amazing! I want all of them for my dear sweet husband. Great poem, Lindsey!
I am utterly in awe of the beer on ice. Wow.
I've only seen Godfather maybe 9,000 times, so pop it in, hand over the popcorn, and get outta my way. We'll call today "Godfather's Day" (Hey, old Vito loved his children and was a good Dad. Family's family; business is business.)
That gold thing in the background looks like a couch. If it is, I'm gonna be REAL comfortable.
@GoryDetails: Betcha the sawdust is Graham cracker crumbs~they're versatile little devils. I've used them as "sand" before.

I cant say for certain because i didnt make the beer cake, but the ice is isomalt sugar, and the bottle is most likely as well. you can buy a bottle mould online and you just pour the tinted isomalt in to the mould and let it set. then pop it out and voila sugar bottle. the label is just an edible image. Hope this helps! If im wrong on anything let me know! like I said I didnt create it :)
My favorite actually has to be the detail of the badly hammered nails in the tool cake. Somehow that alone makes it my favorite, it's just such a sweet detail.
The tool cake is my favorite, too, partly for the band saw cutting into the cake (the sawdust made me laugh), partly for the badly hammered nails, mostly for the completely random "organization" of the tools.
The most amazing things in this post are probably the cigars! When you've seen how many different (and completely random) things the average Wreckorator can make look faecal, it's incredible how unpoolike those brown tubes look.
my favriote is the dodge viper cake
