So much detail here, right down to Paul's left-handedness. Pretty sure the lights aren't edible, but they make for a cool effect. Honestly, it would be so wrong to eat any of this cake. Let it be!
I don't know what type of event could have possibly necessitated an "I Am The Walrus" cake, but I do know that I would like to be invited next time.

I think this cake is an homage to the Cirque du Soleil show Love, which is an homage to the musical legacy of the Beatles. So it's an homage to an homage. Of cuteness.
I'm blown away by the album art on this cake. I spy Abbey Road and Revolver, but there may be more in there.

What talent! Don't feel bad if you can't recreate something like this yourself. Next time you make a cake, just frost it with plain old vanilla icing and tell your friends it's the cover of the ninth Beatles' album, "The Beatles." Everyone will be totally impressed.

So pretty! I lovity-mclove it. All the happy colors and layers and layers of kaleidoscopic embellishments, it practically makes me want to break out in song. (I won't, but if I did, I would pick "Here Comes the Sun," that's my very favorite! What's yours?)
In conclusion, if The Beatles taught us one thing, it's this: All You Need is Love. Either that, or Love Is All You Need. I can never remember which.

The other week at D&D (just to establish my probable pop cultural perspicacity right off the bat) the subject of The Beatles came up, and someone mentioned that everyone can name at least a dozen songs if asked. I said that I probably couldn't, since my musical tastes are pretty outre. I was right; I came up with five, and that was after several minutes of thought.
This means that I have no strong opinion on the quality of the music that The Beatles produced, as I recognize my own biases would get in the way of judgment. I do, however, recognize their HUGE influence on rock, pop, and mainstream music in general. And these cakes are pretty groovy, too.
My daughter and and I had the wonderful experience of seeing Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band on Ringo's 72nd birthday last month. He did a big audience sing-along of " Yellow Submarine". It was such a joyful experience, plus we are HUGE Beatles fans, so these cakes make me really happy!

Wow....Yellow Submarine is one of my favorite movies of all time, so this post got a gigantic SQUEE from me. Thank you! The Sea of Holes at the bottom of the first one is particularly groovy.

Awesome post as always. But, I'm slightly depressed to discover (because I only just noticed the Sweets directory) that there aren't any Sweets bakeries in Alabama.... So I think I shall make it my mission to find one. Maybe three or four. One for each major city, Birmingham, Montgomery, Huntsville, and Mobile. Because Alabama brides and birthday boys and girls shouldn't have to go to Atlanta or Nashvegas to get an awesome cake. Cake Wrecks, you have given me a mission, so now I must fulfill it!

That last cake seriously gives me chills! SO GORGEOUS!! I think when my husband and I celebrate and anniversary (one worth noting anyways) I am going to find a way to make this the cake we celebrate with. Thanks for doing a sweets about one of my favorite bands of all time:)
YAY -- I was just in Liverpool last week and walked down Penny Lane (and stopped to talk to the barber - I am not making that up-- but the banker was nowhere to be seen under blue suburban skies) and peered through the fence at Strawberry Field and listened to a tribute band at the Cavern Club.
I LOVE the idea of frosting a sheet cake white and saying it's the cover art from the White Album. LOL.
That final cake is amazing! And the Rattles are pretty cute too.

Good job with that cake. I know this post is all about The Beatles, but I admit I squee'd my head off at the "Kiss" mice!! I cannot imagine how long it took you to put all that together, but it is amazing good job.
As for the cakes here, usually I enjoy Sunday Sweets. However, coming from Liverpool, and having The Beatles shoved down my throat as the "epitome" of Liverpool, it does rather irritate me. Sure they did real good for themselves, but I really do think they were highly over rated compared to other bands around during the sixties. I honestly despair of going abroad and meeting a foreign Beatles fan as the minute they find out where I am from, they bombard me with questions like I am some sort of walking encyclo(Beatlo?)pedia and that me saying "I never really liked them that much" is akin to high treason and I should be hung immediately for my crime!!!
That said, not hating, as there are one or two tracks of theirs I really do love. Besides, wouldn't the world be dull if we all liked the same things?
My uncle on the other hand, has not so much a collection as a shrine to all things "far four" related! I try not to visit more than I possibly have to! ;)
I'm so excited to see my friend April's beautiful cake this week!!! (#5 - Designer Cakes by April) I immediately recognized her work - but I feel really bad congratulating her on being featured on cakewrecks.com...

It's weird to hear people say the Beatles "weren't that great," but I can only assume that those are people who weren't alive in the Sixties, driving around in VW Beetles, listening to AM radio. It's not a contest, people, between the Beatles, the Stones, or Peter, Paul and Mary.
All the cakes are great, but the last one captures the layering of psychedelics in the movie.

No, you were right the first time. ABBA is the Greatest band of in the History of the World. Substitute "Greatest" with "Overrated" and you can apply the statement to the Beatles. Ace of Base--meh.
I first tried to watch "Yellow Submarine" when I was seven and couldn't get through it. I have tried several times in the 39 years since and I still haven't succeeded. "Hard Day's Night" and "Help" were okay, though.
Sunday was my Birthday so seeing an entire post of Beatles inspired sweets made it that much more enjoyable.

And here I was, wondering why I woke up this morning with "All Together Now" stuck in my head.
