What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Phonics Has Failed Us

No, it wasn't intentional. And Brian, I hope Bethany gets a kick out of seeing her cake here. :)

I love this blog! This reminds me of a story told to me by a school teacher. She had a student and her name was spelled Le-a. Obviously everyone thought LEE-uh or LAY-uh until the mother showed up at the school angry because everyone was pronouncing her daughter's name incorrectly. Turns out that her name is LeDASHa as the mother said "the dash don't be silent."

Those are absolutely amazing cakes! My mother has made cakes for over 14 years, and my sister has been helping her since she turned 15 (she's 27 now). I sent this site to them and the *loved* it.

Thank you for taking the time to find all of these great & disastrous cakes!

My name is Bethany, and in High school that is exactly how my friends would spell it. Just for fun. Sad that is was done by mistake.

I can relate with the spellers. I lost my memory 8 yrs ago & I have the hardest time spelling, reading, faces, names, remembering appointments/events/conversations & dates.

OMG, this reminds me of a nametag I saw on a Walmart clerk. It was Mello-Knee. I didn't know if she couldn't spell her own name, or if she was too numb to care. Of course the other possibility was that it was the true spelling of her name!
