It's My Blog and I'll Flog if I Want To...
January 29, 2009 I realize that some of you are about to get extremely upset with me, so allow me to apologize in advance for any sudden peaks in blood pressure or massive coronaries this post causes. You see, judging by some of the e-mails/comments I've received in the past, apparently every time I publish a post without a cake in it lovers quarrel, birds fall from the sky, and another angel dies. Or something like that - I couldn't really tell through all the trollish grunting.
But, I digress.
Yes, folks, much as I hate/love to admit it, Cake Wrecks has been nominated on another awards site. And yes, I will now ask you - with what I hope is an appropriate amount of humble self-loathing - to consider voting for it. If you can see past the blinding hatred this request has incurred, that is. I mean, sure, there's no cake in this post, BUT, what if I promise to flog myself most vigorously later this afternoon? Could we call it even then?
What's that? The award thing? Oh, right.
It's the famous Bloggies, and Cake Wrecks has been nominated in three categories: Best New Blog, Best Writing, and Best Food Blog. As I said in my sidebar notice which no one has noticed: if you don't agree with my being nominated for Best Food Blog, please, don't vote for me there! All of the other nominees are fantastic blogs, and well deserving of the win.
Voting is super easy: you can vote for all your favorite blogs on one ballot, and no registration is required. All you need is an e-mail address. Plus, I'm reasonably certain that this is the last awards session for the year, so after this I'll only be able to irritate you with the occasional new shirt design or funny video. (Drat.)

I'm here due to this award nomination and love looking at your posts! I have a cake from my son's 3rd birthday that I would love to send you, it's a WRECK for sure. How does one do that, do you accept submissions. If not, that's fine I'll just love seeing everyone else. I watch My Big Redneck Wedding on CMT and saw a wedding cake with beer cans as the tier supports...now that's a wreck!

I just have say, when I started reading this post I thought you were going to say that you were closing up shop. I started to become frightened as I was reading. I could feel my heart beat faster; pressure began pushing in on my chest. I started to worry about who I would stalk, I mean read everyday? Who would make me laugh so hard I would cry? OH THE FEAR YOU JUST CREATED!! I stopped reading and started scanning quickly. Then I realized this wasn't a goodbye post, just a post w/o pictures! OH THE RELIEF!!

Yup, it was the Bambi eyes that did it. I voted, I voted, I promise! We wreckerators need to bake you a "I flog, therefore no cake" cake so you can flog all you want AND post a cake. Shall we get right on that? We can order them from our local W-marts and see what we get. Phone orders only, please!

I must admit that this post without a picture of a cake was somewhat alarming. It meant I had to go and quickly bake a cake for my own consumption (no frosting) so I would have something to munch on while I vote for your blog.
So, along with birds falling, blood pressure rising, etc., there is also the increased poundage problem.

I have already voted: in fact I vote as often as I can. I also voted for Project Rungay and Yarn Harlot, both with attitude similar to yours. I, too, had that sinking sensation in the pit of my stomach, that rise in blood pressure, when I started the post. I thought you were leaving me, alone, all alone with only the bitterness of burnt batter to keep me company. I believe in voting like a Chicago democrat, vote early and often.

I voted for you happily, but I need to add that the design on the Bloggies website makes me literally nauseated. Awful, awful design. Design for the sake of design, with no consideration for the people who have to actually, you know, USE it.
As a mother of five, I'm pretty well immune to the Bambi eyes, but that won't keep me from voting for my favorite blog. Gotta have my Cake Wrecks!
