October 17, 2008 Why 809? Because that's the number of votes Cake Wrecks received over at the Blogger's Choice Awards. That's right, Wrecks fans, WE WON!!
Not only that, but your voting made CW win by a landslide: 300 votes more than second place! Of the 37 or so categories on BCA, I think I only saw 3 other winning blogs with more votes than Wrecks: most winners had between 200 and 500 votes. Wow. congrats! i love your blogg and stop by all the time for a good laugh! your so funny and the cakes are hilarious!! i now walk by the bakery at our local stores and really notice the cakes there. my mom always made our cakes and I have made my daughters hey if its homemade it is allowed to be a wreck right:)they have turned out well so far but she is only 2:)
Someone did bake her a wreck though for her 1st bday. I wish I took a better pic of it was a barbie cake on top of a heart cake on top of a square cake with no supports!! The colors where brown with yellow crystal sugar crystals, purple with red so everything melted into each other and sank into each other! The kids refused to try it as did the adults! (she had about 60 guests and no one wanted to try it!!)
I had made a three tier cake for her bday so I had enough cake without that one was sad to set in on the cake table next to the one I worked so hard on but I had to display it because it was a gift but it was BAD!!!
Congratulations, definately well deserved! I love the awfulness every day but I love the sunday sweets too- restores my confidence in cake decorators!

In wanting to be completely fair in my voting, I decided to check out the top 3 leaders. In all honesty, cake wrecks was the only blog that I could read through all day long and still laugh. I don't even remember being able to conjur up even a teeny giggle when looking through the other two(no offense to the bloggers involved). It was a well-deserved, hands-down win and I look forward to voting again NEXT year!

Congrats!! I was one of the 809 who voted...yes, I went through the rigorous process of creating a login to do so. But it was well worth, this blog is thoroughly entertaining!
Not sure what your long-term goals are, but you are doing a great job of honing your writing skills via this blog. Hopefully some day I'll be reading a hilarious book of yours.
