The website doesn't seem to be working for me. It's being really slow (perhaps from an influx of wreck supporters!) and when I finally get there and login it tells me to login before I can vote. It's like this:
Me: all logged in!
Site: I see that, but please log in before you can vote
Me: Yes I did just log in I'm all set
Site: Good job, now log in before you can vote
Me: *crying*
But I don't give up that easily, I'll keep trying. Maybe I need to re-register...

I can't possibly vote for this blog as "Best Humor Blog" when you posted a real story about the death of your friend's baby. Especially considering the content of the blog where Baby Shower Cakes resembling lifeless babies are mocked? I find it totally irresponsible to lay that heavy emotional burden at the feet of your readers. I understand that horribly sad, devastating things happen in life. I know that very well. Seeking distraction from those real trajedies, I peruse silly blogs. Being confronted with that piece of reality on this site was shocking and upsetting and unfair. How could I possibly recommend this site to someone else, knowing that the real world traumas may seep in at any time? I will continue to read this blog as long as it remains entertaining, but no, I could never vote it as "Best Humor Blog". How could anyone?

On my way to vote now! I love this blog! We go looking for "fail cakes" (as we have started calling them) everytime we are out at the store.
Also, I was watching Ace of Cakes the other day and Duff was saying how much he hates Cupcakes!! Not specifically cupcake cakes, but close! ;o) He had to make a giant cupcake, but Mary Alice kept saying it was basically a Bundt cake because of the way they ended up making it LOL
Fondant guy, much as I appreciate your rushing to my defense, I think the name-calling was going too far. John did the moderating that hour, though, and he is currently your biggest fan. [shaking head]
Anonymous, you actually have a valid point: if someone else I love happens to die, then that nugget of reality could indeed "seep" into CW. I'm sorry that you find this concession to my humanity "shocking and upsetting and unfair", but I'm not a robot. I have feelings, and as a writer I tend to express them sometimes. I also believe that most readers benefited from my introduction to James' blog, since his story has been an inspiration to thousands around the world.
If that one entry out of 140 disqualifies CW as a humor site, then so be it. I'd do it again - and if you had known James, you would have, too.
I've spent 1/2 an hour trying to register to vote. I'll try again tomorrow.

With all do respect, I stand by my position of being rendered unable to vote for your blog as "Most Humorous Blog". I think you're entitled to post whatever you want, but it does compromise the quality of the fun. Obviously I'm a bigger fan of your blog than Fondant Guy who, if he didn't catch all the references to the dead baby shower cakes, hasn't read all of the content of your blog. I absolutely respect your choice to post about the loss of someone you care about and the resulting pain it caused, but know that it immediately disqualifies you from winning "Most Humorous" in my opinion. And no, I'm not a total horse's behind (although that was one of my favorite wrecks). I'm someone who tragically lost someone and looks for distraction in whimsical, ridiculous blogs like this one. And then, when it turns out to not be a safe place, I react to that. I posted anonymously because I couldn't come up with a name to match the spirit of my comment.

I was shocked and deeply saddened by the negative comment anonymous made. Your reply was very classy when I would have much rather responded as Fondant guy did, I can't blame him for his anger, I felt really upset by it too.
That said, I'm on my way to vote right now. This is my very favorite spot to visit every day, both for the blog entries and some of the hilarious commentary.

Anonymous...I just wanted to say that in spite of not agreeing with your opinion, I understand what loss is like. I had 3 major family tragedies in a period of 6 months last year. I too, look for "distraction in whimsical, ridiculous blogs like this one."
However, knowing that I couldn't handle reading about Baby James, I chose to skip that particular post when I first came across it. I may go back and read it some day when I know that I'm strong enough to do so. Right now, I'm not.
It didn't come as some great shock. People lose loved ones. It's a devastating fact of life sometimes, albeit a natural one. It happens. It happened to me in spades last year!
That being said, I absolutely think Cake Wrecks deserves a Best Humor Blog award. I have had more laughs and stress relief from CW than I have had from anything else this past year. That's my opinion. I'm entitled to that much, as is every single person who chooses to vote for Jen's blog. It's their opinion. So while you may not agree with their opinions, you are entitled to that. However, I doubt you'll sway anyone's vote with your impassioned plea.
Jen, thank you for the side-splitting, muscle-building, stomach-cramping laughs you've given me. That you've given SO many! I appreciate it! I need as many muscle-building laughs as I can get!

I would love to vote for your blog; however, I must be a complete idiot, as I cannot for the life of me read the 2 words I'm supposed to type on the registration form! I tried going back out & then in again (about 6-7 times), knowing the "words" would change. Each time, I could see one of the words clearly enough (usually the 1st one), but I couldn't decifer the 2nd one! Too many squiggly lines running through it. Sorry! I really love your blog!
