What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sunday Sweets: Story Time Sweets

Once Upon a Time...

...in the Kingdom of Zuu,

(By Artisan Cake Company)

lived a helpful young owl his Mom had named Huu.

Huu danced with Petunia when she did ballet,

(By Dinky Doodle)

and untangled Sloth when bars got in the way.

(By Conjurer's Kitchen)

He always had time to tie Sally's red bows,

(By Planet Cake)

and if Hedgie asked, Huu would polish his nose.

(By Debbie Does Cakes)

When Flamingos ran errands, he'd stay with their chicks,

(By Mike's Amazing Cakes)

and he made sure that George ate the greens, not the sticks.

(By Planet Cake)

Huu'd help Raffi up when he fell in a heap,

(By Sprinkles Cakes)

and he sang lullabies, to help Flo go to sleep.

(By Little Cherry Cake Co. for Cake Bomb)

He prattled with penguins,

(By Janet MacPherson Cake Craft)

he combed all the llamas,

(By Viva la Cake)

he even helped meerkats put on clean pajamas.

(By Dootsy Dora)

And after all that, our Huu still wasn't through.

On Sunday, he shared all of his Sweets with you.

Happy Sunday!

@sending ~ He is definitely bigger than a cupcake! All 9 pounds of him! But he's the sweetest little boy I've ever seen!

This is my absolute FAVORITE Sunday Sweets ever!!! The cakes are absolutely spectacular, but the little story with them is particularly creative and sweet too!

I LOVE the little Hippo Sally!

These are ADORABLE!!!!

But just like the baby cakes, I just can't imagine cutting and serving them!!

And SEVERAL of them could have been in the gravity-defying sweets of last week! Wowzers! That owl balancing on the sideways branch, and the flamingo neck!?! AMAZING!! :)

Every one of those cakes was beautiful and seriously adorable, although I did an out loud oh my god when I saw the meerkat in the footie pyjamas! And your poem was wonderful, Sharyn. Seriously, you should have that illustrated and published, it's as good as any kids book I've seen!

Sharyn, I've always known you were amazing with your song parodies, but this . . . you've outdone even your incredible self. You truly have a gift. Thanks for sharing it with us.

My 5 year old loved these as much or more than I did. She said she wishes it was a book, so I hope you consider making it into a children's book!

The "I'll write your name" cake makes more sense than you think it does. The star is meant to have a name on it, but a customer might not realize that when they go to buy the cake (it's clearly up for sale in the case and not a special order). The "name" on the star can easily be taken off and replaced with the customer's child name.
