What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Reach for the Skyyyyy!

Graduates, now that you've graduated, a whole new world of possibilities is open to you!

Possibilities like...

...getting arrested in an old-timey Western.

Oh, c'mon, I can't be the only one who hears Woody from Toy Story saying this, can I?

And that's not the only problem. Nope, it seems that some bakers are having trouble understanding what those white things are called:

And they're not doing so great on the "clouds," either.

Now, you might think that nixing the troublesome "sky" component all together would help:

But then, you also might think that's not how you spell "congratulations" OR "banner," so that just shows what you know. [eye roll]

Thanks to Meg K., Katie K., & Lindsey M., who prefer reaching for the stars.

Especially when they're named Johnny Depp or Nathan Fillion. (Mrowr.)

Did someone say Nathan Fillion?

Shiny!

You've started my morning off with sexy thoughts of Johnny Depp. Which is really no different from any other morning for the last 6 years, but thank you for mixing some plastic cowboy and 'Woody' into it ;)

Maybe the meta-message is, "This is a stickup. After I collect your valuables and leave, feel free to enjoy some cake." Now a really clever crook would provide donuts, thus ensuring no police pursuit.

I wonder if John (thoJ) is experiencing consternation because of all the lol-ing. Or does it only count if it is capitalized?

BTW, it would appear the 'stars' contingent was right. Apropos of nothing, are there any wrecks featuring stars?

who wouldn't think of woody when they hear "Reach for the sky", lol

Totally expected to see Woody and the gang when I opened this post... should have known better! ;o) I just don't get how the mistakes are made! Maybe they are trying to make Cake Wrecks?!?!

in all fairness --the kid's name COULD be Banner.... yeah right!

I said in that same voice too before I clicked the audio link! XD

I'm waiting for a "Congrads, Grats" cake. :D

Maybe you should publish that any wreckerator who puts "Nathan Fillion" or "Johnny Depp" on a cake gets a free pass- no matter what goes wrong! Wouldn't it be hysterical to see how many cakes would end up with random pics of them or even just their names?? LMAO

I work at a DQ, where that exact cake was on our graduation cake displays. Every time I saw it I thought of Woody, and I laughed.

All I can say is..why???? If they can't use the kit properly or read directions then it is probably time to try a new job.. I would die laughing if I had that at my graduation party..

Those "Reach for the sky" cakes are actually a kit and that's what the banner says in the demo picture. But I thought the same thing when I first saw it, "Isn't that what old time gangsters used to say when robbing a bank?"

I too saw hidden Mickey Clouds. Awww... especially the second cake. I'll forgive lots of Mistakes if Mickey is on it ;)

We've got a local boys' high school here called Bonner. Most graduates are boners.

Maybe it was a cake for Bruce Banner.

The second and third one need to be in a Cake Wrecks book, if they aren't already!

I definitely heard Woody, even before I pushed play.

(I'm not using it in a sentence; I just thought it was funny on its own.)

Second name is Bonner so this makes me laugh. Inside jokes FTW

Apparently there are no pilots out there. Reach for the Sky was a book written by Douglas Bader, World War II pilot. Also, there are a lot of programs that encourage children to reach for the sky and to believe that anything is possible.

I just can't help it. Every time I look at the word "reach" on the first cake, I think of Woody from Toy Story (which I don't own). Even the very first time I saw it. 0.0
