Sunday Sweets: Off-the-Shelf Cuteness

It doesn't seem fair to only feature custom-order cakes on Sunday Sweets, so here are some gorgeous creations available right from the display case:
Stephanie S. found these in Hong Kong (aka the Capital of Cuteness):
Needless to say, I'm in love with these designs. The little dino totally reminds me of the "Rawr" shirt over on Shana Logic:
And here are some Sweets from the States (I think):
Adam R. found these on Manako's Flickr stream. Hey, I guess it IS possible to make Wreck-less doggy cakes!
And you guys are probably going to judge me for this, but I think these things Monique R. found are adorable:
Even if I can't say exactly what they're supposed to be. Um, maybe owls? Wingless, marshmallow-shaped, fuzzy lil' owls?
I'm thinking of starting something new with Sunday Sweets: weekly assignments. I'd give y'all a theme - Broadway, video games, animals, etc. - and then you send in nominations for me to feature. The submissions can be your own work or from your favorite bakery. What do you think - sound like fun? Let me know in the comments, along with any suggestions you have for themes beyond your average wedding/birthday/shower fare. Thanks, guys!

I really love the cakes from Hong Kong! I wish they sold stuff that cute here in the States.
nonono, the last ones are the Adipose from the first episode of the new season of Dr Who!!! Thats where they're hiding!!!
That night owl cake is one of the cutest things I have ever seen. Instantly saved so I can try to copy it at some point in time
That Dino is friggin adorable.
I like the idea of you sending out wreckporters in mass. But I also love the Sunday Sweets because the cakes are gorgeous. So if you did decide to do the theme thing, it would be nice to feature it on a different day.
Wild Wednesdays
Themed Thursdays
Scavenger Saturdays
so on and so forth
Don't know if you know this or not, but Dim Sum are dumplings served in Hong Kong. They're sorta unique to that region, as I understand it. And, yes, it's quite likely that they're made of the cute critters that you see on that bamboo steamer (that would be the "cake" to you).
Cute? Sure. Dinner? Oh, yes.
I was looking over your Cake Wrecks blog and now I'm compelled to comment.
The cuteness cakes have me spellbound! They're so cute, adorable, and make me want to buy and dispense them right out of the monitor. Ha ha. They're so cute, I'd have trouble eating them.
The owl ones look a lot like newborn owlets. When they're born and cleaned up, they look like that. Its because their over-feathers aren't bloomed out yet. Just their under-feathers, so the wings actually look "missing". They look so lovable and they're typically tame before teenhood. I can imagine what the order was...
"I'd like to order baby owls in their bloomers, please."
It reminds me of the Adipose creatures in one of the episodes of Doctor Who.

That's what they look like.
They are 'Marshmallow Peeps"!
Deb Dennis
looks like cubes of tofu/chickens
haha, they're Vegan Chicks
I think the little dino looks like one of the characters from Dig Dug!!
So cute! Hong Kong really has adorable cakes. The photographer was fortunate. We tried taking some pictures of cakes at a bakery in the Tsim Tsa Tsui Underground and the bakers/attendants chased us away.
The 'owls' look like white weewoos from Neopets.com

Good idea, how about a contest? Whoever brings in the most wrecks (or sweets) for a specific theme gets... first place. Sorry, best I have.
