What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Have none of these people seen the words happy birthday??? At all?!?!?!?!?!?!

Even with lines on the cake, the decorator couldn't write straight! People who put a lower case "I" in the middle of an otherwise all upper case word drive me nuts, but using a lower case "d" in a word is a new one. The eighth cake - BHIARY - is more an eye chart than a cake.

I think that's a kangaroo...

I LOVE that Demon Llama! He looks so happy and festive! Then again, I love llamas in general... I'm going to Cuenca, Ecuador in 3 weeks. They have wild llamas in the national park next to the city. This would look SO great as a sticker on my luggage!

I LOVE the llama!!

Regarding the "BHIARY RHDPAYY" cake, I'd like to note that...

1. It's (not at all obviously) two rows of candle-balloons, which...

2. Still fail to spell out Happy Birthday. Instead, they seem to read "HARPY BIRYHDAY"

Ew...

Well, the llama has the perfect glazed look down. Maybe it works in a wreckery. ...heh heh.

I love that on the "BHIARY RHDPAYY" cake, if you read the candles as two lines (one behind the other) it is still misspelled. Then it is Happy Biryhday. I love it both ways. :)

These cakes remind me of the Birthday greetings in Winnie the Pooh - "Hipy Pappy Bithuth Thubuthda", which means "A Happy Birthday with love from Pooh".

What are those blue blobs on poor Dewayne's binthday cake made of?
The demon llama is well drawn. Since the body isn't shown, though, I gotta agree with Stacey that it could be a kangaroo. The pictures of llamas & 'roos look similar.

My grandma from Poland would wish us a “heppy birthdey”! Thank you for the heppy memory!

I'll never get used to grocery store bakeries charging $15.99 (or more) for a WRECKORATED 1/4 sheet cake. It's almost like the more you pay, the worse the "decorating" is.

Hey! I may be on to something!

No spell check for frosting, sadly, but looooooving the llama!!!

I Love the Llama - I'd happily have that on my.... is that a cake or a cookie?

June 27, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterSu

The llama is adorable.

I love the Llama - but I think he's part llama / part squirrel <3 ;)

I feel sorry for the person who made the balloon candle cake. A valiant attempt in the face of a kit that clearly didn't contain the right letters at all.

Here's a fun game! What message would YOU make with that kit. It has
A A B H H I P P R R Y Y Y

I make "Pay Harry by hip" or "I pry hay by harp" or "Hi! Pray by harpy", which I think is one of the phone options of a pagan prayerline?

Or for those that prefer maths to anagrams, How much did the candle manufacturer save per kit by only producing 7 different letters instead of the required 9? And what could they charge for "Upgrade Kits" with just Ds and Ts in?

I assumed the first cake was ordered over the phone by a South African.

Sometimes when I look at this site, I find it hard to believe that these cakes weren’t made during Take Your (Under the Age of Ten) Daughter to Work Day.

I guess no one at these bakeries cares to spell happy birthday anymore lol. I would stick with the h and the b since that's as good as it gets lately lol.
