What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sunday Sweets Just Wants To Bang On The Drum All Day

It's your weekend, everybody!

That's right, whether you're a nurse:

(By High Five Cakes)

Or an orchestra conductor:

(By Sweetfix)

Or a photographer:

(By Truly Scrumptious Cakes)

Whether you build houses:

(By Confetti Cakes)

Or burritos:

(By Wuollet Bakery)

Or cakes!

(That sometimes *look* like burritos.)

Or if you spend your days in front of a computer:

(By Design Cakes by Daniela)

Your own children:

(By Debbie Brown)

Or a cash register:

(By Marina Danovska)

Thanks for doing what you do.

Now, go take a break, why don't you? You've earned it.

Happy Labor Day Weekend, everyone!
Enjoy the cake.

I first read "your own children" as "you own children" and was thinking hey now, let's not encourage that! So, thanks for not encouraging that but also recognizing that staying home with children is just as much a job as all the others.

That burrito cake is really cute!

My mouth is watering for a burrito- one with rice and beans, tomatoes, onion, lettuce and avocado. And then I'll top it off with a Burrito cake!

Holy cow, that burrito looks realistic. How- actually, don't answer that. I'd rather just be silently amazed.

#2 is so good with the floating hands and the drapery that I just can't wait to see a wreckorator try to copy it, all the while wondering why Phil is so harmonic.

All of these are, as always with Sunday Sweets, remarkable...but I'm torn between the Orchestra Conductor and the Cash Register, as my fave. Both are impressive; the floating hand effect, the gloves, on the Orchestra cake, and the mind-blowing "metalwork" on the Register. Nah...as much as the Orchestra cake impresses me, the Cash Register cake just rings in the dough.

:-)

Sadly, those of us who don't live in the US don't get the day off. :(
Thanks for the lovely cakes, though! :)

My favourite is the computer - specifically the sticky notes - they are incredibly lifelike with the way they curl! Second fave is the nurse, ID badge etc are so detailed.

Least fave is the conductor - ghostly hands...

Wow.

Gee, I was hoping to see a bakery represented, or at least a messy kitchen. Sigh. Good cakes though.

And good pun "Al the K".

The cash register cake is stunning! I just might need a burrito now too! I enjoy Sunday Sweets very much!
