What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

True Colors

You with the baaad eyes

Don't be discouraged!

Oh I realize

It's hard to read orders

In a shop full of people

Who drive you up a wall

And the bakers beside you

Can make you feel so small

But I see your TRUE COLORS

Writing through!

I see your TRUE COLORS

'Cuz that's how I write, too!

So DON'T BE AFRAID!

To let them flow

Your true colors

True colors are literal

Like a "stilleto"

[ALL TOGETHER NOW!]

And I'll see your TRUE COLORS

Causing "boo"s!

I see your TRUE COLORS

But don't let that stop you!

So don't be afraid!

To let them flow

Your true colors

True colors are "beautiful,"

Like this raaaainbow:

A big "thank you in puce" to Andrea P. Mark A., Caylin C., Darnie S., Lezlie S., Paula P., Andrea H., Christine F., & Lacey for today's colorful characters.

Green and Yellow only - do these decorators REALLY think that is a person's name? It's a wonder they are smart enough to put on their own socks!

For some reason, the Sam Brandi Samanta cake made me unreasonably sad.

Last cake:
"GO, Lassie! Good girl!"
("Yes, Ma! It always looks like that when she eats stuff that's got gobs of food coloring.... like the time mine came out green! Dont'cha 'member?" )
=^-.-^=

I must say, this parody is one of my favorites so far! Fabulous rainbow at the end!
Dang, I spelled "fabulous" wrong quite a bit.

If you've ever wondered what a rainbow looked like after it rolled in mud, now you know.

Does it say "Noh small Font?"

So glad the Wreckerator clarified Cake #1. It would be terribly embarrassing to confuse "Andrea with Sprinkles" with that other, boring "Andrea without Sprinkles".

@Nagzilla, reading your comment and looking back at the cake made me do a literal spit take. Not one of the colors is right! The law of averages would dictate you get one of the three, but the wreckerator persevered and overcame those odds.

Ahahahaha, thanks for the needed giggles :D

I initially read "noh small font" as "noh small fart", and wondered why Cristina's parents wanted her to be sure that she is, indeed, a large fart.

June 8, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterAllyn J.

On my cake I would also like to request No Small farts.

The "Sam, Brandi, Samanta" cake reminds me of those brain teasers where you say the actual color word, not the color of the font. I have some students that would love the idea of a great year in purple; glad this is a kid-friendly post.Who's with Ben Mauve - is that Lurslie? Iurlie? Iurslie?
Ah, well - at least "Birthday" is spelled correctly on all the birthday cakes (yes, I double-checked!).

And there ARE sprinkles on #1. Way to cover all the bases.

I'd put my obligatory balloon rant here but it might end up on somebody's cake.

Did the wreckerator drop the rainbow in the street then run it over with a zamboni? Oh man how can you not get a rainbow right? Lol and some of these are so pretty til it gets to what they wanted on the cake literally written on the cake.

I want to believe the third cake was sent to a personal shopper by a happy customer who for the past twelve months has been resplendent in purple dresses, purple coats, purple shoes and purple accessories.

OMG!😂
"Noh small farts" will definitely be on both my + my husband's BD cakes. Every year from now on.😻👌
Perfect. The crappy rainbow sin't too bad either!

Why did "Andrea with sprinkles" immediately give me an earworm of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds?"

June 9, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterKim Delaney

Now, see, I wouldn't mind an "Andrea with sprinkles" cake....heck, they spelled Andrea correctly, and the rest...well...it's sprinkles. Like glitter, only edible. Right???

June 9, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterAndrea R

For some reason, my brain reads "sprinkles" just fine, but it persists in seeing "Amdrea" for the first cake. Probably has something with the way I write my capital A, even in more-or-less cursive (detached from the rest of the letters).

Between the lovely choking hazard ribbon and "with sprinkles" having sprinkles on the lettering, I'm wondering if some of it is deliberate (though still wreckily funny), and "Amdrea" is just a bonus - I'm guessing from the thank yous that Andrea P. doesn't have an M in her first name!

Noh small font, as in the Japanese theater?

Nagzilla, exactly. That one was the worst for me! Especially since the only one not in blue was the only one that was supposed to be.
