What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Friday Favs 2/24/17

Some of my favorite new submissions this week:

I won't tell you how long I thought this was a sideways H:

I also won't tell you how long I stared at this one:

...before John finally pointed to the post-it.

However, I *will* tell you John spent the same amount of time thinking this was a perfectly nice cake, and wondering why Natasha sent it in:

So clearly we're still meant for each other.

;)

Thanks to Katelyn W., Michelle D., & Natasha P. for seeing how many of us had our coffee this morning. Also, there's no WAY that's an H on #2. NO WAY.

By the way, when Choo Choo Chase gets to high school, do you think his buddies will call him "Chooch?"

The Thomas cake does look good, and I can promise Chase loved it, and it probably tasted great. Just a shame the baker took the 'I want it to look like this' just a little too literal.
As for all CCCs... bleh, so bad.

OK, I must admit it took me a minute to figure out #3. At first, I thought maybe the 4 was backwards. Have I ever mentioned that I am somewhat dyslexic?

Cake #2, in addition to the baffling intestine-like swirls and undecipherable initials, why is there a period between UG and the H? So many questions.

May Chase turned 2 on the 4th??? IDK LOL! Trying to help them out!

Got the train one instantly, but it took me a very long time to figure out the "sideways H"

It took me 2 long 2 figure out # 3 which should NOT be 4. Then I laughed out loud.

I found this script excerpt from "Thomas the Tank Engine and The Terrible Bakery Accident"
(Annoying theme music)
Sir Topham Hat: Thomas, I have a very important job for you to do. We have a new friend, Chase the Chopper. Today is his birthday. I need you TO get a cake FOR him. He is . . .
Thomas: Oh, yes, Sir Topham! I am a very important engine! I can help!
(Thomas races off to the bakery before Sir Topham finishes speaking.)
Thomas: Mr. Baker! I am a very important engine. I need you to make a very special cake for Sir Topham Hat's new friend Chase the Chopper! I am a very important engine.
Mr. Baker: Oh Thomas. You are very important! But I need to know what kind of cake to make.
Narrator: And then there was trouble!
Thomas: Why, it should have ME on it of course, because I am very important. Sir Topham said it should also have a TWO and a FOUR!
Narrator: Mr. Baker was confused by this, but he did the best he could. Then he decided to leave the Isle of Sodor for a better life in hell.

Sorry John, but it took me about two seconds, or the same age that Chase was celebrating.

I thought the Ugh cake was John upside down? Looked very like it

@Yana I think it's supposed to be a rhyme, so more like "Choo Choo! Chase is 2!" or "Choo Choo, Chase is 2!" Grammar is important!

I'll bet the kid ordered the train one and when the baker asked how old he is, he said "I two!!!" and held up four fingers. Right? Its possible...

@ sendingtheclowns -- you win my prize for post of the day

And folks, it took me more than a minute to figure out Chase's cake -- and I 2 think it's one of those "two kinds of people" sort of things (I choose to think I (and the rest of the posters who seem concerned) am not dumb, and I've got two advanced degrees to prove it, dagnabbit!).

Other than choo choo chase turned two and not four that cake is pretty lol. Too bad they didn't make a two with the tracks. At least it looked good lol.

I laughed even before I got to the Chase. I just pictured the train trying to go around that acute angle.

I got the train one right away, but I thought the middle one said "U Gay" for a while so was trying to figure out what the pink things were since they were kinda phallic, but not really phallic.

February 25, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterRebecca

Oh my...I looked at the bottom one for about 10 minutes until I found it!😂

February 26, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterChara

Chase's cake wasn't a train wreck, but darned close to it.

February 26, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterNobodee Home

I got most of them quickly, I'm still wondering about the "sideways H," I read it as "love you more," but I feel like it's one of those things with another hidden layer of meaning...

February 27, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterSam

Oh. My. God. I may never have figured out the train cake if all you guys haven't explained it to me. I was looking for wrong details and ignoring the "elephant" on a cake completely...

It took me quite a few beats to catch the Choo Chase issue. Probably for the same reason that it took me eight months to realize the Geico money stack was supposed to be a face. I need to make awful cakes. I'm overqualified. Thanks for sharing these.
