Chasing Shadows, Deja Vu The Third Again
[alarm clock clicking to 6:00 AM]
[Sonny & Cher caterwauling to I Got You, Babe]
Ok, Campers, rise and shine! 'Cuz it's Groundhog Day!
Or, as Brenda here knows it:
"Did I do that?"
...drive around town with Bill Murray looking for a weather forecaster who has no shadow. Which I think makes the weather forecaster a vampire.
Ah, American holidays.
Today is also the day when we find out if winter will end soon or not.
Hm...
Yeah. Good luck with that, every-state-but-Florida.
So, unless shadowless weather forecasters are run over by rodent and celebrity driven automobiles, I'd say most of you are due to see a lot more of this:
"Squashed octopodes?"
Er, no. I mean this:
"Blue crabs?"
No, no, no!
THIS:
[crickets chirping]
Oh, never mind.
Happy Grounn Dhog Day, y'all.
Thanks to Brenda M., M.Z., Melissa B., Saundra, Karen C., Jamie, & Kevin H., who would like to remind you to never drive angry. Especially with a quadruped.
See you tomorrow, campers!

This is one time where cakes really do not fail to capture the true excitement of a large squirrel predicting the weather.
YAY! Winter stops at the Canadian border…Or has Trump already built his wall? Winter hits two dozen states and misses one enormous province. I like it!
And, G Roun D Hog? Is that some new African nation?
Squashed octopodes in the forecast here at our house! I need some project to do with the kids who can't go to school today. ;)
That third "ground hog" demonstrates what a dog turd does when it sees its shadow...
I'm happy to be teleworking this Groad DHoG day, so Bill Murray can be on in the background all day, witnessing the majesty of an oversized squirrel predicting the weather. Don't drive angry!
Well, at least the third cake has Punxsutawney spelled correctly. That's something hopeful
I think those blue THINGS are leftover from Christmas.
We have a fellow at our church for whom English is not his first language, and he is hard of hearing, too boot. I am beginning to think he works as a cake decorator in his spare time. These cakes certainly resemble some of the reports he used to send me.
I think those "blue crabs" are actually Elsa's new boobs. Not too natural looking.
That first blue CCC thang looks like some hail we got last week- and about the same size too- Swearsies!
In the next ones I see blue boobs and an Elsa-Carebear CCC (patoooie) What would Rorschach say?
I thought the Blue Crabs was a strapless bra with little decorative doodads on it. And the next one down is a frozen and snow-covered teddy bear.
We seem to have dodged today's predicted snow AND rain, which is just fine with me.
Proof positive there that a teddy bear "pan wow" cake can't be made to look like a snowflake...or is that a cupcake cake shaped like a teddy bear, that they decided instead to decorate like a polar bear lost in a snow storm?? Good grief!
Don't forget, boy,
That's why they call us,
They call us
Grounn Dhog! Grounn Dhog!
The penultimate cake looks like an icy teddy bear.
Stand, Old Ivy, Felix1140, Stand firm and strong!
The five phases of "Groundhog Day" or "Grounn Dhog Day" in some hemispheres. 1) Denial. There's no way this winter is EVER going to end. 2) Anger. I'm not going to live by their rules anymore!. 3) Bargaining. I'm not THE God, but I am A god. 4) Depression. It's going to be cold...it's going to be gray....and it's going to last you the rest of your life. 5) Acceptance. Say a prayer and drink to World Peace.
So we'll be seeing a lot of flat and sparkly teddy bears? I'm good with that!
I guess that these bakers were still upset about stepping in the puddle and getting their faces slapped.
I think the little round groundhog cake is cute!
Punxsutawney is NOT spelled correctly on the third cake!
Hmm wonder if this means we get the same cakes again next year? Lol won't be shocked in the least.
They can come *that* close to spelling Punxsutawney right, but they can't spell groundhog??
"Squashed Octopodes" is an excellent name for a rock band!
