Could someone - with lousy handwritng - have ordered a cake for a 'Pom' and actually asked to have "Happy Birthday Pom (Porn)" written on it? Maybe a cake for Bon-Bon (nickname) met with a rather unfortunate accident in the bakery? My last name was butchered that badly once, although not on a cake.

Engrish.com had a notice about a maid named Ms. Porn. Apparently, it's not uncommon in one part of the world.
So if you are a native Bostonian and the cake decorator is not, you should consider giving the order in writing.
Caalah has to be from Boston.
My stomach hurts from giggling over that last one ("Poop and Eayor II"???) I love it for it's bizarreness, and for the tree in the upper left corner, that looks to me a bit like the head of some evil, boogie-eyed bird swooping down toward the little friends. Save them!! I'm thinking that Porn was a poor reading of someone's bad handwritten of Pam... What else could it be.....
We actually had an employee whose first name was Porn. I realize it's a cultural name but really? REALLY?
The sad part is "Shopie" and "Railey" might actually be spelled correctly - I've seen some poor excuses for spellings of names since I had my daughter...
I also thought the Carla cake said Coolah.

I worked in a call center long ago and one of the caller's name was Suppaporn.
I had an uncle named Dorn (that is with a "D"), his 60th birthday cake said Happy Birthday and Best Porn Wishes, my aunt was mortified (and blamed my cousin who should have looked at the cake when he picked it up.) Unfortunately it was about 20 years before you started your wonderful site.

"Caalah" reminds me of my mother-in-law. Her name was "Dorothy", but because of her dad's thick Scottish accent, the name on her birth certificate was actually "Dortha".

The porn cake is pretty and well made. It doesn't have a comma. It might have been for someone who joked that he/she wanted some birthday porn or that fresh fruit sometimes looks pornographic.
Or it might just have been Dawn's birthday.
Is it just me, or does the Caalah cake look 'shopped? Like the second 'a' is too exactly like the first 'a', while the third 'a' shows a normal range of differences? Somehow that second a just seriously stands out to me.

I was watching the ending credits to the first Narnia movie and I saw that one of the hairstylists was Rapeeporn Rodchompu. I looked her(?) up on IMDB and apparently she also did hair in The Cat in the Hat.
Hmmm... am I the only one that sees the #4 Carla "Caalah" cake as a poorly Photoshopped wreck?
The 2nd a is a duplicate of the first with a somehow badly done feathered edge for some reason...
Then take the l and transform/shrink it a bit, while using the r (that was there originally), rotated 180 degrees and plopped after the l to make it into an h.
Maybe I just use Photoshop too much, lol.
Well, it's about dang time someone acknowledged the birth of porn. I mean really. We have a special day for every crazy thing imaginable, porn should at least get a day of celebration too. And what better way to celebrate porn than with cake? After all, bakers have been making erotic cakes for decades. So, here's to you, Porn. As others have already pointed out, Porn is a fairly common Thai name. You don't actually pronounce the R - it's more like Pon or Phon.

Why, oh why didn't the wrecker just continue the fruit topping on Porn's birthday cake? Those bands of fruit really are well done. On cake 5, I read "congrat s" as "congress" with an s on the next line (misspelled $ sign?) and then dollar. I've been reading too many budget-related news sites.
Well tonight I thought I just may not laugh hysterically. I was wrong. So very wrong. By now my neighbors must think I lost what was left of my mind lol. Oh my gosh these are priceless.
'Porn' is a name that originated in Thailand. I once stayed at a resort over there that was managed by a person named 'Cum'!
While the Thailand explanation seems most logical, I was thinking it could have been a misspelling of Bjorn as well.

Okay, who sent the Caalah cake? We up here in Central Massachusetts talk like that and my had a cake made for our pastor when she was officially "installed" (!) as our pastor.
Actually, it said "Congratulations, Carla," and because someone in the preceding ceremony made a joke about our pronunciation of our New Yorker pastor's name, a wisea** member of the congregation rearranged a bit of the frosting so it said "Caala" instead. (Yes, I'm pretty sure he used his grimy hands.)
When my sister and I decided to sponsor a child in Africa, we were presented with a list of children needing sponsors, as well as their names. One of them, a girl, was named Pornpan. I hope someone eventually picked her, but unfortunately we didn't. We just couldn't imagine telling people that we sponsored Porn in Africa.
I'm afraid we may have been had with the "carla" cake... I'm pretty sure that the writing has been photoshopped (badly) onto a stock cake image, and then you can see how they copied the O/A and sortof fixed it in... maybe even faked the H at the end... sorry guys...

I'm an ESL teacher, and I have to agree with the others that "porn" is a fairly common *element* in Thai names (though it rarely stands alone). For your amusement, students I have had include Kidiporn, Pornphan, and Tittiporn. I usually warn them that it is better to be commonly known as "Linda."
There's a woman who works at my usual grocery store whose name is Aporn, and I've always wondered if she gets more porn or apron jokes.
