A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.
Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Ah, what a grand salute to American Arts and Letters!
Oh dear, some of these are pathetic. Our troops deserve nothing but sunday sweet worthy cakes, although if any of them saw these they would probably just laugh, and then eat them. To all who have served thanks :D
Oh what is that thiiiiiing
By the fugly flag cakes
Patriotic insects
And stupid misspellings
With red stripes and blob stars
Through the ugliest cakes
And the cakes are mispelled
This baker can go to h*ll!
It's proof in the world
That they're colorblind
Oh what does that say
Happy Mammorial day
O'er the land of the free
And really ugly caaaaaakes!
I think we should all pause and remember these cakes and cookies whom paid the price of becoming wrecks so others whom would have didn't have to.
Agree with Mindy - troops deserve beautiful cakes (but I know you have done those previously), so I hope they laugh their socks off instead! Thank you to all who have served
Nice, @TheCreepyTribble
Thanks for the mamories, indeed.
@TheCreepyTribble- BWAHAHAHA
One cake's writing kinda looks... melty. urgh!
Some random un-memorable thoughts on Memorial Day…
Cake 1: Hope you’re enjoying your day, Memerial….
Cake 2: This cake was for Amber’ who has opened a “gentlemen’s club,” where she stars…and strips forever…..
Cake 3: Enjoy this while listening to that classic rock song, “Whom are you, whom, whom, whom, whom….?”
Cake 4: “Hey Jack, what are we gonna do with this left over ladybug cake?” “Dump some stars on it…’cause ‘Merica!”
Cake 5: It seems that patriotic flotsam and jetsam just don’t “gel”…..
Cake 6: Just a reminder, that even though this is ‘Merica, for some life’s a beach…(though a few might flip-flop on that issue….)
Cake 7: The Mdw 2K 10 Spermathon…with that little red-haired kid in the front of the pack while those too exhausted to continue lie scattered on the sidelines….
Cake 8: Because whenever I think of Memorial’s Day, I think of Tootsie Rolls…
Cake 9: But, bless his what…?
Cake 10: …and remember, the breast is yet to come…..
Cake 11: If this doesn’t make you proud to be part of Merica, shame on you…..(perhaps some of those star-shaped sprinkles would help…)
And on a serious note…thank you to all those who have served and who are serving now…because of you doing that, I can do this….
Ha! That last one is mispelled. It should be #murica
God bless our hero's... what? The suspense is killing me!
Will nobody
stand up forhelp the hexaplegic ladybugs? The severely-injured deserve our respect and support as well. The great thing about cake #7 is that it appears to be the second try. How bad was the first go-round that they scraped it off and settled on this one?
The "ladybug" would do in the Netherlands. It's a symbol agains useluss violence. But for memorial day?
Such a shame about #3. Other than the grammar error it's actually pretty well done.
As for #7? There are no words. I think the saddest thing is that it appears the finished product is a "corrected" version.
I think that cake 5 is supposed to remind us to support our troops by donating blood. Or strawberry jelly. I feel sad for the person who did the whom cake. They probably felt pretty good about themselves thinking they were using fancy grammar.
All I could hear was Ross's voice saying "Whom!"
How sad is it that the flip-flop cookie is the best of the lot?
For those that served in whatever way, we remember you. Thanks Dad. A red poppy for you today.
@TheCreepyTribble_ Lol! Can't stop laughing!
For those who served, and are still serving....in Memory of my Uncle Hugh (WWII) and cousin Alan (Vietnam), niece Jennifer (still in the Guard), nephew Danny(Iraq/Afghanistan)-we thank you!!
And apologize-all our military deserve better cakes than this........
tho cake #10 could be for someone who has had a mastectomy(?)......
Hey, the second to last cake could double
for breast feeding awareness....mamorial day...
A day to celebrate mammaries everywhere! Lol
I’m proud to be an #merican (remix)
If tomorrow all the wrecks were gone,
I’d looked at all my life.
And I had to start again,
With just a poundcake and a knife.
I’d miss the messy stars
And stripes the wreckers here display.
‘Cause a wreck still stands for talent,
That got lost along the way.
And I’m to be an #merican,
‘Cause our spelling loose and free.
And our: punctuations’ just a “choice”,
As you’ve can plainly see.
And I gladly sit down,
With a flag that’s like chewy, tasty clay
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love these wrecks,
Their, they’re there’s nothing left to say…
Okay, who's the boob who decorated the Mamorial Day cake?
Nothing says Memorial Day like a star-sprinkled oozing ladybug in the shape of a football. God Bless #merica!
Stars and strips forever? Must be talking about L.A. Movie stars and the Sunset Strip!
Or maybe strip malls? Strip clubs? #merica indeed.
Personally, I'm most disturbed by the cake with the sell-by date of 06/09/11!
I am a proud #merican!
My friend's little girl, nicknamed Laidy, had a ladybug-themed 1st birthday party today. That's the only reason I can come up with for a Memorial Day Ladybug cake. In fact, she had the most adorable ladybug cookies and one of them sat perched on her smash cake :-) Totes adorbs. These? Not so much...
Happy Mamorial "Day" Zoly, everyone! (I use Zoly so much my auto correct knows it)
@My Goodness... never forget.
@Sandy... yes!
Also proud to live in #merica
I cannot stop laughing at some of these comments. Oh if only the wreckerators were forced to eat some of these creations of theirs. I can't imagine the customers were too happy once they saw these lol.
God bless our greengrocer's apostrophes, and our mamories too.
"Whom" adds a certain gravitas to any serious inscription.
A Memorial Day cake from Broo -- um, a soitan pot uh da City -- might say:
Don' aks fa hoo da bell tolls.
Nobody needs ta know.
OK, it tolls fa youse guys, see?
Fuhgeddaboudit.
Now, "Don' aks fa whom da bell tolls" would make you cry. For whatever reason.
*
I like the MD Wackio cake. I imagine it was the only happy food the ER newbies had all weekend.
*
Mamorial Day was 2 weeks ago. That's a stale cake.
*
Isn't Murrica spelled with a K? And an E instead of a U? And only one R? Nobody nose how to spell anymor. But it does look like it would be yummy.
Forgot. (It's late)
@My Goodness: You made me wake everybody up when I busted out laughing.
LOL @FrankNStein
@...anon: Great idea ;) Donate strawberry jelly!
Well, Mdwakia to you, too.
Actually, wouldn't the plural of hero be heroes? So technically, hero's is correct!
God bless our hero's
fresh bakery. Please protect
it from homonyms.
I just noticed my #merica cake was featured here! *happy tears* :D For what its worth, we made it intentionally tacky in the spirit of Cake Wrecks. Neither of us can decorate worth a hoot but we wanted something fun to go with our red, white & blue 3 layer cake. This didn't come from a bakery (thank goodness) - my husband and I made it as an in-joke for our cookout with another couple.
#MERICA! #MURICA! However you spell it!
