What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Simply Smashing

This is a cake I posted back in 2009:

"Because crime doesn't pay, kids."

And this one I posted in 2011:

"It's kind of a mix between 'shushing' and 'churning.'"

Well, today Deirdre M. sent me this cake:

Three wrecks of the exact same design, misspelled three different ways.

 MY LIFE IS NOW COMPLETE.

And to celebrate, I will now rehash a slightly dated meme for my own base amusements.

You're welcome.

(Psst. Hey. You know you want to read this out loud.

Go on.  I won't judge. Much.)

Thanks to Jenn B., Mickie D., and Deirdre M.  for chursh... cursh...ah chrush...smashing crime.

Sung to “Three Blind Mice”

Three wrong cakes, three wrong cakes
They’re so much fun, they’re so much fun
Jen cashed in on one in twenty-o-nine
Then two years later she churshed just fine
Now “chrushing crime” is simply sublime
It’s three wrong cakes. Three wrong cakes.

Or maybe I should have said:

SIN TER “THRER BLERND MAHC”

THRER WRIN CERKS, THRER WRIN CERKS
THER SER MAHCH FERN, THER SER MAHCH FERN
JERN CERSHERD ERN ERN THERN ERN TWERNTERNERNER
THERN TW YERS LERTER SH CHERSHERD JERST FERNER
NER “CHRERSHIN CRERM” ERS SERMPLER SERBLERMAH
ERTS THRER WRIN CERKS. THRER WRIN CERKS.

Keep your fingers crossed, Jen. “Crhushing Crime” is still a possibility!

Apparently, this is a cake decoration kit.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Batman-Glider-Cake-Decoration-Topper-Kit-/180916892528

The amazing part is that although the frosting materials are not included (read the legend in the ebay entry), the wreckerators went about copying the picture as best they could.

Their best being - not that much.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSkeptic

Let's start a pool on what the 4th misspelling will be! I take "Cursing crime." Darn those criminals.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBB, Miami

What's really really sad is that they obviously had the correct spelling on their "how to make this cake" template. They couldn't even COPY correctly!

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSandy

I think "CHURSHING" means cursing in a church. :)

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJen @ Cup a Dee Cakes

bwahahahahahaha!!!!!

Mer Frerder ers ner cermplert!!! Ermagerd.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJeanne

Really now... the same ugly as sin cake misspelled and remade, seriously bakers do better

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterthestrangegothkitten

I couldn't even remember how to spell "Crush" correctly after looking at all the misspellings.

(Pardon the "quotation marks" above. I may have used them incorrectly!! Hee hee!! At least there are none of those on the cakes!!)

Love you guys!!

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLena

I would officially like to throw in for either "Cruising Crime" or "Cursing Cream".

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBADKarma

I'll bet these wreckorators didn't do very well in school because they couldn't even copy the answers to the tests correctly when they were cheating.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTLC

Bravo! *Handclaps*

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterStoich91

The real question is why batman is lying down on the job so often.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

Even Batman's life seems complete with the third misspelling. He is sure lounging on that last cake.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDonna

Now I understand that meme. ERMAHGERD, indeed.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKim in ID

Gesundheit!

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJulie

Apparently, the Commissioner is trying to save electricity by just chucking a giant "Bat Signal" frisbee into the air. Batman's not lying down on the job, he's dodging the frisbee. Am I the only one who sees those lines around the Bat Signal as indicating movement?

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAndrea

Oh man... I LAUGHED...

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCarol Anne @ Rock Salt

Is it pathetic that I wanted to scream "WHAT IS IT SUPPOSED TO SAY?!?!"

Perhaps every bakery should have a dictionary on hand. SO THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCarmen

I thought the first one said "CASHING CRIME" and that the words "IN ON" were missing. So Batman's on the take. I knew it! No wonder he's so rich!

This is the first time I have encountered the ERMAHGERD meme so I've had fun researching. That frosting is totally going to stain her retainer.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterpikkewyntjie

Ermahgerd! Ish the Derk Knert!!

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCaren

Crushing Crime, perhaps

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermtread

The wrecks? Eh...

The expression on the girls face? I practically peed myself! What a kodak moment, hehe.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMonkeyButt

"I am Batman, and I won't stand for this kind of degenerate misspelling!
*falls backwards*
"Curses! The Evil Wreckerator has found my secret weakness, his spelling is chrurshring my willpower!"
*struggles back up to his feet, only to be knocked backwards again*
"Drat! My Bat-Utility-Belt seems to be missing the special Bat-Icing-Smear-Spelling-Corrector!"

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJenna

When you go to a commercial bakery and flip through the books and order a cake, they are made just as they are shown on that piece of paper. They are designed in such a way that "anyone" with some decorating talent can make them. They just apparently never thought about spelling! hahaha.

News Flash: I just found out where you can buy cake wrecks. I was going to see todays wrecks and my computer had a brain fart and went to a page that said that that page didn't exist and under that is:
Cake Wrecks at Amazon
Buy Cake Wreck at Amazon! Qualified orders over $25 ship free
Amazon.com

they are not just at your local grocery any more.....I think I will try to buy one.
Love your site....keep it up...a laugh a day at the Copper Cupcake in Louisville, KY

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGrandmaJer

It's a unholy wreck-trinity!

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNicole

Holy trinity of misspelled cakes, Batman!

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered Commentersrsjules

Jen, is that a picture of you?

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered Commentercaker

I think I'm going to put bets on "Cursing Cream" too. I'm sure it's what the wreckerators do... "Damn this buttercream!"

@Sharyn: BWAAAAHAHAHAHA! Ermahgerd, you are killing me here, woman. :)

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAmy H.

@Sharyn ~ did your spellcheck finally go on strike after that one? Simply amazing!

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJodee in WA

Is this the sequel to yesterday's 6th Jeffrey cake?
Can Jenna' s list of utility belt tools be any funnier?
Find out next time.
Same bat time, same bat channel.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRikki

BWAHAAHAA a misspelling "hat trick" so to speak :-) and yes, I did read it out loud... Thanx for the chuckles!!!

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterkatie

I totally did read that out loud!!! HAHAHA

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterVal

I had to read the memento 'out loud' in my head because I was on the bus, and that just led to barely -restrainable silent giggling. :)

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMelanie

At least the R is moving to the correct side of the U.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAisha

@ Jodee in WA -- it's started auto-correcting things that are already correct.

October 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSharyn

This is what happens when the Joker is allowed to decorate cakes.

October 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPrudynce

Well they can't possibly wreck that cake anymore. I think all the possible ways are just about done lol. Watch now that I said that they will wreck the word crime so next we see cherishing crumbs. I won't be shocked by that either way lol.

October 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

@Jenna that was more interesting a story line than half the books I've read lately!!

October 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara Anne

OMG seriously too funny .. too bad they don't have spell check on cakes. But that 3 blind mice song is the best ... that is a YouTube in the making

October 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCynthia

@ Sharyn, I tried to sing the second part of your song today and ended up slobbering all over my keyboard

@Arlene, cherishing crumbs made me snort

October 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDegera

Because these are the cakes that birthday parties deserve.... but not the ones they need.

October 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterFoxmoses

thx man its very attractive

October 7, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterali

I would throw in "Checking Crime". You know, not actually stopping anything, just making sure everyone is playing nice and sharing all their toys, er, tools and weapons.
With Batman laying down on two out of the three cakes, seems like he's getting ready to pull a Danny Glover a la Lethal Weapon on crime.

October 7, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAdnama

The meme was the funniest thing I have seen all day!!! Thank you CW!!!

October 10, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

This is too much like grading.
