What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

The Lone Ranger

We had some complaints after our Whirled Series Cardinals post the other day, and surprisingly enough, they were from Rangers fans. Yep. Apparently they want to see their logo butchered on baked goods, too.

So Texas, this one's for you:

"Hi Ho, it's Morphin' Time! Play Ball!"

Thanks to Amber W. for evening the score.

"Hmmm... This still doesn't look right. I know! I'll pipe on a Ranger's hat. Yup. The hat makes ALL the diffference."

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSharyn

Jill, I was thinking the same thing! What an awesome cake!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKatherine

i agree. this isn't a wreck, it's pure awesome

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterlee

Oh my god, that's a mighty morphin power ranger too! Where would they EVEN FIND THAT to use?!?!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMags

That. Is so wrong... on so many levels. I love it.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterFluffy Cow

Oh. My. God. That's amazing!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKatie

I'm from Texas and I LOVE this cake! Hahaha I would sooooo have bought that!

It could be b/c I'm 25 and watched the Power Rangers all the time growing up- the Rangers combo cake makes me happy! <3

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterChani

Would be so much better if it was Chuck Norris! At least he played a Texas Ranger.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSusan

I think I saw this guy in "Spiderman" on Broadway...

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSuBee

I have to agree. This cake is awesome!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRachael

Go go, Texas Rangers!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

HUH?!?!?!?! BTW< got the new book, love it :D

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMINDY1

Oh, geez! REALLY????
Okay, fine, if TX kills John this time then Jen is not off the hook for the Orlando party as it was provoked.
Humph.

No, I don't want TX to kill John (or Jen) as that's like bread without butter, peaches without cream (did you think I was going to say Herb?) or Barnes without Noble. The universe just wouldn't be the same.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara Anne

I have no idea what the real Rangers logo is, but I'm fairly certain this is an improvement!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterEmily

I'd buy it. Not that I'm biased or anything, just living in Texas and currently wearing a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers shirt...

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAbigail

It's been nearly two decades since I last watched Power Rangers, but I honestly do not remember the Orange Creamsicle Ranger being on the original show. What was his or her 'zord, a goldfish?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNaomi

i find this very creative, i mean they put the hat on him!! HAHAHAHAHA

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterbibef

Go Cards!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterauntta

The Mighty Morphin Texas Rangers! Players on the half-shell...no, wait. Wrong show.

Susan, I love the idea of a Chuck Norris cake to represent the Texas Rangers.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMelindaB

Been rooting for the Rangers...this cake is AWESOME!!!!!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterReds Fan

I WISH there would have been some Power Rangers on the team! Something to think about for next year, Wash!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterpikkewyntjie

Ahh lol nice cake. Not sure about that power ranger but ah well to each there own I say.

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

As someone who grew up in Arlington,Tx completely uninterested in baseball, I would totally bring that t a party

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterfrithywitch

lmao@Naomi... orange creamsicle ranger

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSarah

Good evening, Amber W.

Since there's only one on the cake, what about Clayton Moore?

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterCraig

I can't remember the last time a Cake Wrecks post as made me laugh as hard as this one did.

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterErika

Toronto in three days!
For this second baseball post I think I'll wreck up the second half of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game".

...Let's all root, root, root for the baker
who thinks that it's morphin' time.
And it's 1, 2, 3 days to go
'til my book gets signed!

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterzoomom

I refuse to believe that is an accident. Someone must have ordered that as a gag or something. It's just too perfect.

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterjess

I LOVE it!

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMarie-Eve Lohman

I actually like it but the only error is the hat the "T" looks a bit like a backward "J" at the bottom point. Plus I think they've been wearing red hats off and on now.

Not a cake wreck per se, but definitely one of those that makes you go "huh"?

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMel

Anyone else notice the nod to Inspector Gadget? Yes, I know this dates me as a pre-Power Rangers watcher. But I can live with that.
Go, go gadget cakes!!

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterVioletrose

Epic Win.

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterChristine

Hey! I grew up in Arlington, Tx too and don't really care about baseball either. I'll have a piece of that cake with you.

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterCarmel

This cake is gold. And I love it.

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMimiheart

haha!!! OK, I give major points for creativity. That is hilarious.

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRachel

Sorry, Violetrose, but that's actually a Power Rangers reference. But if you're a pre-PR watcher, that makes sense. The chorus for the Power Rangers theme (I use that term loosely) is "Go Go Power Rangers!" You can check out the songwriting brilliance on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANTT0VsnIyk&feature=related. Gadget cakes would be pretty fantastic, though.

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRachel

$19.48, huh?
Would it have been an even $20 if they'd won, you think?
I like the little plastic-fingered "V" for "victory"...unless that represents a move that pokes the opponents' eyes out.
I wanted the Cards because I just love their little bird logo. Cute little thing, that.

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered Commenter~anamorous~

Oh Patrick and spongebob where are you with your love for Texas when we need you!

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSarah

I don't follow sports. At all.

But I *adore* this! :D I can't help wonder if it was actually intended to be a funny wreck.

October 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBeki

This is sooo not a wreck! But thank you for sharing it with us because it's pretty fantastic!

October 30, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKristin

That is so not a wreck. That is the awesome.

October 30, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterEmma

Best. Cake. EVER!!!

November 4, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterZane
