What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

A Perfect Pair

"Hi, I'm here to pick up a cake for my five-year-old's birthday? Grace Marie?

"Ah, that looks great!

"Oh, but I was wondering: it's also my husband's birthday, so could you maybe throw a little something extra on there for him, too?

"Perfect! He loves Elmo!"

Thanks to Ainslee F., who's still waiting for the "Tickle Me Baywatch" crossover episode.

WHAT!? This is so wrong. I'll never look at Elmo the same again.

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterThe Boob Nazi

Wow, it's hard to achieve a really awkward moment via cake, but this baker has skills!

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterstuckinmypedals

A. Hysterical.
B. The Boob Nazi being the first comment? Even more hysterical.

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterEm

I hope it was a "drop off" party. Otherzies, poor Grace Marie is going to see a drop in playdates.

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Ok, why not? Plus the handwriting is rather nice. Overall a well executed cake.

WTH??? This is soooo funny and strange that I'm just sitting here laughing and laughing like a goon. Who does this?!!? Who goes, ya, Elmo and Boobzilla on the same cake is a good idea?! HA HA HA HA HA HA

Man, I love this site!

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterShannon

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKelly

Did anyone else notice that the word before "love you" is intelligible?
Yeah, sorry, i know, deriving from the main point. Really funny. I can't help but feel sorry for poor Grace Marie that she has these parents.

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterChocolatier

Oh..... my...... GOSH!!!!
"Tickle me Baywatch"? Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMaureen

that's one bad Elmo er, MOMMY.

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterStella

Well, that's certainly...different. It's like Muppets meet a popular Herb Alpert album cover...

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDanger Boy

This wreck was brought to you by the letter "T" and the letter "A"!

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJenniffer

Ah, the CW team continues to astound!

mocking

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Today`s word is C Cup kids. So funny `he loves Elmo` so great as always.

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Good one, Jenniffer. Also brought by the number 34....

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterClassic Steve

Wait! That's not Katy Perry! Shouldn't that be Katy?

~~Di

wv - ilost -- well, okay. *sigh* I neverwin.

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commentermladybright

Cool! A cake to honor the Elmo/Katy Perry "lost episode" duet!

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterthesacredandtheprofane

Yeowza.

wv: Lappe
I wouldn't have thought Elmo was a fan of lappe dances, but you just never know about people...

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAngie

Why not put a smaller pic of Katy Perry when she appeared on sesame street... at least there would be some rhyme to the madness

Why not put a smaller pic of Katy Perry when she appeared on sesame street... at least there would be some rhyme to the madness

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Hey. At least the girl wasn't facing the OTHER direction! Imagine how awkward that would be!

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSuzie

My youngest son's 5th, and my husband's 45th are 5 days apart. Maybe I should make them a cake like this. NOT!!!!

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Does this commemorate the banned Katy Perry episode?

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Wow!! Im not even sure where to start!? There's something wrong with this family!! May I suggest that next year mom gets two cakes!!! Or...maybe just get dad one of those brown paper wrapped gifts and let Grace Marie have the cake!

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKimpossible

Clearly, that mom wasn't one of the ones protesting Katy Perry's appearance with Elmo on Sesame Street. ;-)

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLadybug914

I was wondering if the lady in the corner was a portrait of Grace Marie, and Elmo was for daddy?

Naw, however I try to justify this in my mind, it always ends up in the same gutter.

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Is that Katy Parry on the cake?

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSweetsmilz

that is seriously disturbing! what mother in her right mid would pay for that?!

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterNadia

Like everyone else has said this is messed up...now am I the only one to notice that the red bra/bikini top is actually bigger than her boobs? I think I need to go repent for spotting that! :P

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterChristy

The wreckerator was clearly outraged by the Elmo/Katy Perry flap, and this was his or her form of retribution.

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMelinda

Well, they DID have the red airbrushing tools out...

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Too funny! My soon-to-be 5-year-old and my husband share a birthday as well - I'm sure Hubby would be just fine with this cake!

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

LOL you know that's an afterthought! Daddy's red icing is a little off...so how do we explain to the kids about Elmo's little buxom "friend"? is she a bikini Barbie?

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterjo

What sort of cake is that -- cheese, by chance?

Maybe Grace Marie and 'Daddy' sent the cake to someone else. Nope -- doesn't work. Still pegs the Creepy Meter, because 'Daddy' is wearing an Elmo suit, and it isn't clear if he is the unnamed recipient's 'daddy' or Grace Marie's. It also leaves the identity of 'bikini girl' disturbingly vague.

If Grace Marie is part of the Elmo set, then I guess that could be 'Mom' in the corner without requiring a really early start. Starting next year, separate cakes is an incredibly good idea.

Did anyone else notice the, er, proportioning problems? Not just that one, but her head and her hand. The lack of an elbow is yet another disturbing detail.

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterCraig

Wow, I get to say the same thing I said on the NetFlix pic from a few weeks ago on Facebook :)
They definitely found my demographic-Elmo and prostitutes!

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDangard

Is the chick Katie Perry? If so, then what's the problem?

WV: tempar

How the Pepperidge Farm guy says "temper" : Watch yar tempar.

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterpikkewyntjie

Looks like Barbie. What's the problem? :P

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterNahhh

Argggh.....another cupcake cake, no?

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterlasersmith

Now you know why Elmo doesn't wear pants...

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnneke (Mudhooks)

Why is her bra three sizes too big?

December 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

I am now terrified of giant Elmos attacking weird girls in bikinis lol. Hilarious and scary at the same time. Who on earth would do this to a child's cake? Or should I say what sane person would do that? Lol.

December 30, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

All wrong but funny. If the cup is bigger than your head it is at least a FF or G cup. Yes, they exist.

December 30, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Mummy, what's Elmo doing to the funny lady? Why is Daddy watching? Can we go - I don't feel very well.....

December 30, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterCaroline B

my three year old daughter just looked at this cake and started singing [to the tune of twinkle twinkle little star]

elmo, elmo with a geerl (that is how she says girl), on a cake that's made with blue...

i thought, what blue? ahh... the airbrushing in the background is blue-ish. hope you enjoy her song. i really couldn't make up something that great on my own. :)

December 30, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnne

Anybody else think that DADDY ordered little Grace Marie's cake???

December 30, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLorry

The size of Elmo compared to the size of the trucker mudflap girl makes me wonder if he's going to grab her and climb up to the top of the Empire State Building clutched in his faux-furry paw, King Kong style.

December 30, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Poor Grace Marie. I bet she can't wait until she's old enough to move out! How embarrassing for her if this was served at a party with other kids-- and adults.

But, at least the drawings are done well (although the writing's hard to read)!

And yup, next year, get two cakes.

December 30, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAliza

What the cuss?

December 31, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMissNay

"Perfect. He loves Elmo." Comedy genius.

December 31, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBrooke

*sarcastic tone, btw*
perfect, something for the kid, something for dad.

and you probably save $$ than having two cakes.

best part is that elmo and overly-padded barbie match
