What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sunday Sweets Goes Crazy Cat Lady

Cats are pretty awesome, you guys. The purrs, the head-butts, the constant disapproving stare that makes you question your life choices; they've got it all.

Kind of like this cutie-patootie kitty cake!

(By Tasteful Cakes in California)

Isn't it purr-fect?
(I'm getting the puns out of the way early. You're welcome.)

Check out this sweet vintage style:

D'awww. The ruffly roses are a sweet touch.

John and I have two new felines of mass destruction, both about 5 months old now, and for some reason this one reminded me of Eva after her spay day a few weeks ago:

:D

Some delicate kitty silhouettes:

[By Stephanie's Cakes]

Look at those details! I love the pink yarn ball and little hair bow.

Also digging this cute cartoony style:

(By Cake by Agnieszka)

The little mice!

While this one is all about sleek lines:

[Baker unknown]

Change the color and it also works for Halloween!

This prosh little tabby is almost - ALMOST - upstaged by the incredible sweater texture below her:

(By Cakes Mogilev in Belarus)

Look at that "knit" sugar! And the little pom-poms!

Another kitty straight out of a story book:

[By Cakes Decor member Veronica in Slovakia]

All hand-painted!

This one screams - er, yowls? - "Paris" to me:

[By Sweetlake Cakes]

Look closely; some of the polka dots are paw prints.

And finally, a sweet kitty smile in the cheeriest pastels:

[By Natalia Casaballe]

Anyone else in the mood for cake right meow? :)

I hope these made you smile! Happy Sunday, everyone!

I love all of them, and. there are two pink and black designs that I liked..but the fourth down is really intense,
and one I think would look amazing if it could be lit from within!
Wonders upon wonders.......=^-.-^=

That's Croatian for "My cute workshop," BTW.

I give up. Can you define "prosh?" I can't find it anywhere. (Yes, I'm old.)

[Editor's note- Honestly, I think Jen made it up. She claims it's some newfangled whippersnapper lingo meaning "cute" or "precious" but I don't believe it. Now get off my lawn! -john (the old man of Jen)]

#1: Around here, cats don't wear eyebrow pencil. They must do things differently in California.

Ooh, I love the 18th birthday/sleek lines ones. It's all about those curly tails.

@AngelaS and the editor: I've seen "prosh" on the now defunct Cute Overload!

I love these purrfect cakes, even though I'm not a cat person.

The thing I wonder about. All these gorgeous cakes you post. I only see them in glamour shots. Does anyone ever actually receive a cake that looks like this? Or do they just get the wrecks?

How do they do that sweater texture like on #7? Is it piped on, is each thread piece a preformed bit that's put in its place, or is there another possibility?

These are amazing!

October 1, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterSammi

They're all technically beautiful, but there's a few where I almost feel like there's going to be hair in the frosting

October 1, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterMatt

These are wonderful! I like them all!
