Jessica H., I have a feeling they're going to rip up your library card over this. Oh, and do only "past" Christians get to go to the Pubic Library? Discuss.

I think I can speak on behalf of all of the healthy, red-blooded adults (and pervs) out there who totally agree with the "Go Loins" cake! ;)

I grew up about an hour away from Pass Christian, just across the Louisiana border with Mississippi. Here I was getting ready to explain what it must have meant!
So does a "pubic library" offer a nice collection of hair samples?

Lion is not that hard to confuse with loin. I saw "Loin chops" at the supermarket when i was young and thought it had to be "lion" chops.

It used to be a Christian Library until the unfortunate "pubic incident".
I'm with Erin--took me forever to figure out what was wrong with this cake, despite your jokes in the captions!
Reminds me that once, at my old job, they accidentally programmed autocorrect in WordPerfect to change "public' to "pubic." The sad thing is that it took them a few weeks to figure it out! It's pretty bad when your legal pleadings contain references to the "Pubic Service Commission!"
Are cakes that used to be Christian being fed to cakes that used to be lions?
Today's post is ALL kinds of naughty, but I love it!!!! Had to suppress laughter in my cube, as usual....
I just find it funny that so many tiny towns or even villages are allowed to call themselves cities in the USA, population 4,000+ is just a decent sized village...and we have villages with really funny names even with ou spelling mistakes..http://www.anglotopia.net/ultimate-list-of-funny-british-place-names/
When I was a kid, my hometown's Lion's Club donated some benches to the town in scene places. Every one of them had 'Sandwich Loins Club' engraved on them. No one noticed till one of the members' 8 year old son pointed out that they were spelled wrong. Needless to say the town had a real good laugh and the boards were replaced.
If you are familiar with Pass Christian, that's the only mistake you see. Thankfully.

Go to the pubic library and learn about how past Christians were eaten by loins. Sometimes history is really, really filthy.
I think Ellen Degeneres' mother lives in Pass Christian or something like that. I know I've heard her mention the place. Never heard her mention the library, though, and know we know why. Decent folk don't talk about it.
I like to think that someone intentionally added the curlicues to the "y" after realizing the hilarity of the spelling error.
Notice how curly some of that writing is, especially the "y" ? It sort of fits the mistake...
the unfortunate pubic incident of 2003. All us Christians remember it so well- how can we forget, the day our library became a past christian library. I miss those books.
So sad. They actually got congratulations right only to go and blow it all on public.
I have to believe the cake was ordered from somewhere near Pass Christian. Even with limited literacy or English skills, wouldn't the cake decorator be familiar with local towns? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!?!
@mindy1; I was chuckling right along until your comment...am VERY lucky I know better than to drink a beverage in here, laughter exploded out of me at that...no sticky keyboard for me!
Many years ago, a now-defunct Baltimore newspaper ran a front page head line about "PUBIC OFFICIALS". The mistake was discovered after the papers hit the street, and the originals are cherished collectors items.
I can't be the only one who spent 5 minutes making sure they spelled Congratulations correctly. Right?

Pass Christian is a town on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I live in the middle of the state. Anybody near there would have known where it was...well, should have!!! It's pretty well known...almost obliterated after Katrina.

My dad is a chartered accountant. When he was looking for work about 20 years ago, he spent HOURS double-checking the spelling of "public accountancy" on his resumes and cover letters. As he said, that's NOT why you want to get your resume pinned up on the office bulletin board... I agree, it's so sad that they managed to spell Congratulations correctly and then - that.
I hate to burst your bubble, but that actually says "Congratutations" on the first cake. Instead of taking the time to individually cross each T, they piped one straight line, and unfortunately the L was caught in the middle. Too bad.
So this cake, technically, is missing more than one L.

Pronounced Pass Chris-ti-anne, not the way Christian is typically pronounced and it's a Mississippi Gulf Coast town. In 2005 it was practically wiped off the map by Katrina, as was most of our coast. :( But it's been growing back semi-steadily. A lot of beautiful historic buildings are being rebuilt.
Wow at first I thought what a pretty cake lol. Then I looked closer and now I really wonder what all those droplet things are.. maybe this cake was sweating and didn't want to be devoured.
Well, without loins, where would we be...?
"Past" Christian library... ugh. I wonder which baker goofed that one up, considering the town is locally known as "the Pass". Past Christian, really?
