Whatever Happened To Sprinkles?
A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.
Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

You had me at "Kermit flail."
You guys sure know how to get me.
"Kermit flail" is immediately being added to my vocabulary. It's fabulous!
@Calamitybird -- Where do you live, so I never move there? We had ONE of those creatures at our July 4 picnic in NJ and we (male and female alike) totally freaked!
I believe that's a Staghorn Beetle. They are interesting, and they don't bite.
The watermelon CCC (patoie!), on the other hand, is horrifying.
@ Ted C - why not?
LMAO!!! the commentary is so much better than the cake!! Poor John.... LOL!!
that's a watermelon?
Ha Ha, I thought it looked like a caterpillar at first too. Perhaps a bug infestation caused the mutated, bumpy watermelons. No? Oh, I see...it's all bumpy 'cause it's a CCC. Now I understand. Wait, no I don't, 'cause now I don't understand why the big beetle is there. Definitely NOT appetizing.
Thanks Carasu, now that's ALL I can see!!
That is the definitely the bug that Khan put in Chekov's ear. Khaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!
I don't get it. What's a bug got to do with watermelon?
Where's the store label - "Watermelon CupCake Cake - now with EXTRA Protein!"
I hate to scare anyone but that's a baby bug- here in FL we grow them bigger than that. I met one larger than my nose and, yes, I do know for certain as it sat on my nose...for a nanosecond until the screaming started (no, John wasn't there [evil grin]).
This has to be on my personal top ten of cake wrecks - not for the cake, but for the dialog! Thanks for making me laugh out loud!!!
So that's the beetle the red green white caterpillar turns into, right?
It would be a perfect representation of a Japanese summer. Kids and adults alike here keep stag beetles and feed them watermelons. The condition of the watermelon could have come from doing suika-wari, a game kind of like hitting a pinata except that you blindfold and wind up the player and then they try to smash a watermelon with a stick.
Obviously you're not from New Jersey. We call them "jimmies" not sprinkles. lol
that reminds of the commerical where a guy bashes a phone because it has a realistic spider image.
i'll take that cake without the cockroach.
Summer fun: observe
what's more yellow, this cake or
passing customers?
